7 killed, 1 critically injured after shootings at 2 farms in Half Moon Bay in CA; suspect in custody

A source has confirmed to our sister station, ABC7 News, that shootings at two farms in Northern California this afternoon have resulted in the deaths of seven people and critical injuries to one person.

First responders initially received a call about an ongoing gunman situation at Mountain Mushroom Farm on San Mateo Road in Half Moon Bay around 2:20 p.M. The incidents of gunfire were notified.

With life-threatening injuries, a fifth individual was taken to Stanford Medical Center after being shot. Authorities arrived at Mountain Mushroom Farm and discovered four deceased individuals with gunshot wounds.

Shortly after, three more victims were found at the Concord Farms – less than 3 miles away from the Mountain Mushroom Farm – also deceased from gunshot injuries.

The individual under suspicion has been apprehended, as confirmed by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department.

Chunli Zhao, 67, from Half Moon Bay, has been apprehended in relation to the occurrences.

A female individual who observed the apprehension of the shooting suspect in HMB provides specific information.

The authorities stated that there is no additional danger to the community and it is believed that he acted in isolation. According to the sheriff’s office, a weapon was found in Zhao’s car.

As per a source, the wrongdoer was hired at one of the mushroom farms, and all the people who were injured were coworkers.

Dustin Dorsey from ABC7 reports from Stanford Hospital, where three individuals have been injured in a shooting incident in Half Moon Bay.

Local residents informed ABC7 News that Mountain Mushroom Farm is reputed to be a cannabis cultivation facility.

ABC7 was informed that the Holy Family Children’s Center went into a state of lockdown at approximately 3:20 p.M.
