Body Pulled from Harlem River Is 13-Year-Old Boy Missing Since Friday, Family Confirms

As per a municipal authority, it has been verified that one of the two absent boys from New York City, who have not been sighted for almost a week, was found deceased in the Harlem River on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the police in New York City, specifically in the Manhattan area near 138th Street, made a distressing discovery. At around 10:15 a.M., A body was found in the river under the Madison Avenue Bridge, and it has been confirmed to be the 13-year-old Warren Garrett. This news has deeply saddened the family, as they had been searching for him. The official from NBC shared this heartbreaking development.

The search for 11-year-old Alfa Barrie from the Bronx, who remains missing, is ongoing as of Thursday evening. The river is still being searched by Harbor Units and dive teams in hopes of finding any additional items or evidence. Prior to the involvement of the medical examiner’s office, the body was transported to Randall’s Island by the NYPD Harbor Units.

The community pleaded for assistance in bringing the boys back home, and according to the police, detectives had been tirelessly working for almost a week to locate them. The families of the missing boys stated that their vanishings were extremely unusual, and the community has been anxiously awaiting any updates regarding the investigation for days.

According to the witnesses, Garrett was last spotted with Alfa at a fish market located on 145th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem on Friday night. A worker at Ana’s Fish Market stated that he saw the boys inside the store, where they purchased a few items. The worker mentioned that the shop was a place they often visited.

Alfa and Garrett went back to Harlem around 1:30 a.M., Passing by the fish market where they were last seen. They were hanging out, playing basketball again, as they made their way to Garrett’s home.

Barrie and Warren were recently seen in each other’s presence, and officials have previously declared that they believe the boys were in each other’s company when they went missing.

According to Alfa, his sister, who is 14 years old, was supposed to meet up with him after school to walk home together. However, he never showed any indication that something was wrong. He had just left school after half a day because it was Friday, and his sister attends the same school.

Diallo Fatima, Sister Alfa’s, expressed, “I can’t understand what’s happening right now, everything that’s going on, I can’t comprehend.” Sister Alfa’s, Diallo Fatima, said, “I can’t comprehend what’s happening right now, everything that’s going on, I can’t understand.” This is all new to us. He has never done something like this before.

At a certain juncture, the two absent boys were observed on surveillance footage close to Colonel Charles Young Playground, where relatives and volunteers were distributing pamphlets on Tuesday evening. Although they were acquainted, their families were unaware of their connection. They developed a friendship within the community; however, as per Alfa’s sister, the boys did not attend the identical educational institution.

NYPD officials say they’re trying to identify all the other kids who were with them and want to speak with their classmates.

On Mother’s Day, he was declared as not present. Authorities affirm Alfa was previously observed donning grey tennis shoes, grey trousers, and a navy pullover featuring a “Democracy Prep Harlem Middle School” emblem, as stated by the police.
