June 18th corresponds to the date for Father’s Day in Colombia, which is celebrated every year on the third Sunday of June.
The meaning that the church has given to this day is that of “the heart that loves, but is wounded by our sins”. The sacred Heart and Jesus’s devotion to humanity are commemorated on June 19th (Monday) this weekend will be a holiday and precisely.
Some tend to forget why a different date is commemorated, and that is why we tell its history. Unlike Father’s Day, it does not have a fixed date.
During Father’s Day, the role of fathers in raising and guiding their foster children in society is recognized.
With this date, the importance of the paternal figure in people’s lives is highlighted, emphasizing its role in the maintenance and integration core.
Origen
In honor of so many men, fathers, and family providers who do great things for their children and their countries, a date will be created as proposed by Sonora. This celebration, which originated from the United States nearly 100 years ago, was initiated by Henry Jackson Smart, a war veteran and father of Dood Smart.
Establishing it for every third Sunday of June, the definitive declaration of the celebration was given by President Lyndon Johnson until 1966. However, since 1924, when President Calvin Coolidge expressed his support for Sonora, the original date was set for June 5th, Henry Jackson Smart’s birthday, for this reason.
After years, the United States decided to continue this tradition of honoring men, primarily by paying tribute to nearby countries. Furthermore, it is a very significant date for the commercial sectors.
Most Ibero-American countries and several European countries, such as France or the United Kingdom, adopted the American date. However, Father’s Day is celebrated on March 19th in countries with Catholic tradition, as it coincides with the Day of Saint Joseph.
On February 23rd, in Russia, Father’s Day coincides with Defender of the Fatherland Day, while in Libya, Jordan, and Palestine, June 21st coincides with the first day of summer.
