Jones has two siblings, Precious and Keisha. He was brought up in Harlem by his grandmother on his mother’s side. The careers of musicians have a significant impact on each other. Cam’ron, also known as Giles Cameron, became friends with Jones when he was a young teenager. He met Dame Dash, one of the future co-founders of Roc-A-Fella Records, and gained a big name in hip-hop when he was just six years old. Jones had a troubled childhood and was caught stealing from a store, which led to him being expelled from school.
Controversies
Jones retaliated by hacking Tru Life’s MySpace page. The album, featuring Jones, showcased photoshopped images of him wearing a thong in a “Borat” style. Tru Life responded to the challenge by stealing jewelry from Jones and taunting him on the mixtape “Tru York” in 2007. In 2006, after Tru Life insulted Cam’ron and Jim Jones as “bitches,” Jones challenged rapper Tru Life to a physical altercation with a $50,000 bet.
In the subsequent year, he admitted his culpability for accusations of aggression. On December 22, 2008, Jones struck and thrashed an acquaintance of Jay Z’s at the Manhattan Louis Vuitton establishment. The song titled “Brooklyn High,” commonly known as “We Fly High,” was synchronized with the rhythm of Jones’ well-received composition. Jay Z retaliated with a derogatory song where he censured Z’s performance as the head of Def Jam. Jones further instigated a conflict with Jay Z.
