Michael Phelps on another golden hour: ‘There wasn’t a shot in hell I was losing’

Once Michael Phelps was blown away as his rivals and the rest of us paid homage to his sustained noise that greeted his brilliant career, summed up most sweetly by his victory in the 200m butterfly, those were the words that also greeted his greatest Olympian of all time status.

Phelps, at the age of 31, swiftly acquired two additional gold medals. There seemed to be no further actions he could take to improve upon his already impressive record. Phelps has long been known for his outstanding legacy of achieving gold medals, which are signed, sealed, delivered, and coated in triple-plated, gold.

I came into the pool tonight and accomplished the mission. Latyina Larisa, the Soviet gymnast who is next on the list with 18, had more than a total of seven medals – two golds, two silvers, and five bronzes over five Olympics. When he was reminded of his second victory in the relay 4x200m on Tuesday night, he said, “It’s just insane how many medals we got.”

The stare of death gave every indication of wanting to shatter his opponent’s body into billions of pieces, becoming the subject of thousands of internet memes. It was the latest in a long line of micro aggressions since Phelps’s retirement in April 2014. The American’s response was the boxing shadow in front of him, before the semi-finals.

Before entering the arena, Phelps made it clear that he meant business as he flung his towel over his shoulder like a determined fighter. There was no drama in the room when the final call was made, but his focus and single-mindedness were as intimidating as his appearance.

All athletes try to find the mystical state, where everything flows like water and the mind develops tunnel vision, similar to a war zone. Phelps finds this to be more like a geeky, easy-going demeanor replaced by thunder, with the blood-red circles on his back adding only to the cupping technique healing effects of Chinese.

Clos Le, who was in lane six, positioned himself with his back next to Phelps, who was in lane five, as they lined up on the starting blocks. After the turn, Phelps quickly made a faster start, drawing ahead of his rival. However, Clos Le, with his enormous upper body strength and 14-foot-long body, stretched his distance in the 100m race. Despite the opponents’ attempts to counter his energy and wave creations, Phelps was still ahead of his rival shortly after the first turn, but Clos Le was the quickest in drawing the closest to the start line.

In the fourth position, Kenderesi Tamas of Hungary was surpassed by the swift-finishing Sakai Masato of Japan, finishing just 0.04 seconds ahead. Although he was tying with Phelps and had exhausted himself, Clos had a clear advantage, yet it was not a definitive victory. The lead he had left at the 50m mark had been further extended.

Phelps stated, “I was not in hell losing that shot, there.” “Not only did I see my name as the next No1, but also I won by only 0.04 in the 200m fly, just one more time before the awards ceremony,” Phelps said, admitting that he was unaware of this.

He also broke the world record eight times, which is a good measure of his greatness in the unbeaten sport of running. Between 2012 and 2001, he put together one of the greatest runs in international competition. The butterfly 200m is his signature event, which he owns the longest and cherishes the most. It’s understandable that Phelps’s emotions were high for this event.

He stated, “While standing on the podium, I was reflecting on the past 16 years. That particular occasion was my main source of income and this would be the final instance in which I would participate in swimming it. It’s absolutely mind-boggling to consider that it has all come to an end.”

Phelps expressed, “It is beneficial for the sport to have a contender of that nature. The young individual possesses skill, and during the last 10 meters, I felt as if I were motionless. He displays fearlessness in pushing his limits. He is an excellent competitor. I do not desire for him to emerge victorious, and I am certain he feels the same way towards me.” Phelps even managed to conjure up a few slightly positive words regarding his defeated opponent, Le Clos.

In the same individual event, the first man to win a medal and the oldest male swimmer to win an Olympic gold medal in the 200m butterfly was Phelps’ successive four victories.

Finishing in second position in Great Britain, with a lead of almost three seconds, the United States completed the men’s 4x200m relay in a time of 7 minutes 00.66 seconds, with him serving as the anchor leg seventy minutes afterwards.

I have seen a guy without goggles win, but it didn’t affect him so he has different sponsors now. I handed mine to him, so he has different sponsors now. This week, Boomer, Phelps’ three-month-old son, celebrated his father’s last race by kissing him on each cheek. Phelps pointed out that this is not the end of his journey, as he is likely to have more gold medals and win more races. I am excited to see what he does next because once you see him, you can’t really stop. He easily puts Dwyer as the greatest swimmer of all time.

It would be argued that we were not given what we had just witnessed. Even now, after all these years, this domain still belongs to me, so I finally gave a lingering fist pump to say so. Then, acknowledging the crowd, I shot my hands up towards the sky in triumph. And with one finger held up, I would argue that he was still the best in the world, as evidenced by Phelps’s victory celebration.
