Nevada pageant winner to become 1st transgender Miss USA contestant

After completing her one-year obligation, Jen Psaki stepped down as the Press Secretary. Jean-Pierre was elevated to the role, previously serving as the Principal Deputy Press Secretary and Deputy Assistant. Karine Jean-Pierre has now assumed the esteemed position of the official White House Press Secretary and Assistant to the President, breaking new ground as the initial openly homosexual individual and the initial Black woman to occupy this post.

Karine Jean-Pierre, a long-time advisor to President Biden, served in various political and communication roles in the Obama Administration before taking on her most recent government position. She is no stranger to working for the President, having been Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary, as well as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. Jean-Pierre was born in Martinique and raised in New York City, where she received her Master’s degree from Columbia University.

Before her role on the campaign, she served as the Chief Public Affairs Officer for Political Analyst MSNBC and NBC, as well as MoveOn.Org. During the Obama-Biden administration, she served as the Chief Political Regional Director for the White House Political Affairs Office. She also served as the Deputy Director for the Battleground States campaign for President Obama’s re-election in 2012 and as the Southeast Regional Political Director for his 2008 campaign. In addition, she held positions as the Director of Budget and Legislative Affairs for two members of the New York City Council, as well as the Chief Deputy Staff and Campaign Manager for the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Initiative and for President Martin O’Malley’s campaign.

She is a published writer and advocates for major companies to embrace change, having previously worked at the Corporate Ethics and Community Center.

Jean-Pierre expressed that throughout her career, she has acknowledged the invaluable contributions of others, recognizing the significance of their achievements. She comprehends the immense importance this holds for numerous individuals and diverse communities, emphasizing that this is a moment of great historical significance.
