Surviving homeowner says he ‘can’t believe it’ following gunman’s rampage in Cleveland Texas

Multiple agencies are exhausting all available resources in the search for Francisco Oropeza, a 38-year-old man accused of walking into his neighbor’s home and shooting multiple people in the 100 block of Walters Road, just about 45 miles north of Cleveland, in the Houston area’s End Trails.

According to Wilson, Oropeza, who was reportedly drunk and shooting his AR-15 gun on the front porch, asked Garcia to keep his 1-month-old baby quiet while he was trying to sleep inside.

Garcia stated through an interpreter, “My infant was frightened because we requested him to remain silent. He was playing with a toy gun and the gentleman emerged. We were planning to prepare a meal. We had guests.”

Garcia said that Oropeza told them that they were going to call the police before they could walk to the front door where Taibot Guzmán Argentina Sonia, a 25-year-old wife, was standing and she was shot.

“I never expected that he would fire. Then he proceeded to search each room, seeking individuals,” Garcia stated.

Garcia also mentioned that Oropeza fired several shots at him but failed to hit the target.

“He couldn’t keep pace with me. The bullets were striking (all over the place),” Garcia stated.

Officials reacted to the gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.M. And discovered numerous individuals wounded.

As per Sheriff Greg Capers, two women were discovered resting atop three (surviving young children).

Investigators stated that every victim had been shot from the neck upwards.

The family officials have identified Diana Velasquez Alvarado, who is 21 years old, Obdulia Molina Rivera, aged 31 and the sister of Alvarado, Josué Jonatan Cáceres, who is 18 years old and also the step-son of Garcia, and Daniel Enrique Lazo Guzmán as the other victims.

Garcia stated that he never encountered any issues with Oropeza, even after relocating to this place three years ago.

“I never encountered any issues with him. I can’t fathom his actions,” Garcia expressed.

Detectives stated that he possesses a facial hair style known as a goatee and has abbreviated dark hair. He was most recently observed donning denim trousers, a dark-colored top, and industrial footwear. Authorities depict Oropeza as an individual of Hispanic origin, standing at a height of 5 feet 8 inches. A magistrate has authorized the issuance of a warrant for Oropeza’s detention and set a bail amount of $5 million.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is aiding the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office in the hunt for Oropeza.

During the ongoing search, officials reportedly discovered a cellphone belonging to Oropeza, which was found along with abandoned clothing that is said to have been used for communication purposes.

Oropeza stated that officials used tracking dogs to eventually find his scent, even though he had fled the area on a bicycle or on foot.

Investigators believe that Oropeza is armed and poses a danger, considering him as a threat to the community.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to collect funds for repatriating the remains of Sonia Argentina Gúzman and Daniel Enrique Laso-Guzman to their home country of Honduras.
