Is a Visit to Limone Sul Gard Worthwhile?
In Northern Italy, Limone is an absolute must-visit. Whether you discover Limone itself or utilize it as a starting point to explore the surrounding area, Limone sul Garda is the most scenic village along the coast of Lake Garda and is definitely deserving of a trip.
How to Reach Limone
To travel to Limone, you can take a bus or a car. If you prefer to fly, the popular airports nearby are Verona/Brescia or Verona Airport, and Bergamo (Milan) can also be reached by plane. ✈️
Brescia offers bus services that connect the towns along the western shore of this lake for those who wish to travel. However, the bus connection may not be the most optimal option as there is no train station in Limone.
🛥️ CRUISE: You can also reach Limone by cruise from Sirmione, Malcesine, or Riva del Garda.
We drove to Limone by car, taking some very narrow mountain roads and streets that were well-paved. These roads also pass through Milan and Bergamo, which are near Limone.
How to Travel in Limone
If you have a liking for strolling, I recommend being ready for some pleasant hikes and wearing cozy footwear because Limone has mostly walkable areas and the terrain is a little inclined.
Finding (free) parking lots can be challenging. Having a car can be convenient for day trips, but it is unnecessary in Limone.
The cyclist, such as the locations around Limone that are not directly in the city center, can also be reserved for a taxi and transported to.
One of the most effective methods of transportation is to board a boat for any of the suggested excursions available. Additionally, opting for boat transportation is a favorable choice.
Ideal Time to Explore Limone
Lake Garda, and Limone, are popular attractions between April and October.
Limone sul Garda is a popular destination, especially among tourists from Germany and all around the world, especially during the summer months. It is a charming gem that is not hidden. Limone can get quite crowded, indeed.
I suggest visiting Limone during the summer months, specifically September or early October, April, and May (and possibly early June), as it tends to be quite hot. Additionally.
Everything is still open (such as restaurants and shops), and September is still warm but less busy. Additionally, prices are lower in September and October. The same goes for visiting in late spring.
Accommodation Options in Limone Sul Garda
I didn’t find it very comfortable because my parents didn’t enjoy it much either. We stayed at a small apartment on a Camping site – there are only a few accommodations and hotels here, but it looked great.
The Palace Splendid Hotel – Luxury 🛏️ is a delightful accommodation that offers many amenities and beautiful views from its rooftop pool.
The Gianmartin Garni – Mid-Range 🛏️ offers a delightful lake view and a delicious buffet, making it a favorite among solo travelers to find affordable rates.
🛏️ Budget-friendly – Hotel Cristina has a nice location and offers lake views, a pool, and friendly staff. Check out rates here.
These are the top accommodations to consider in Lake Garda.
Limone Sul Garda – Miscellaneous Details
Each restaurant charges a different fee, typically ranging from 1-3€ per person, known as coperto, which is applied when you dine in and place an order for food.
You will find smaller shops to buy drinks and food other than supermarkets, in the upper area towards the beach.
ℹ️ There are a few drinking fountains available, so don’t forget to bring your water bottle and refill it with fresh and free water.

Enjoyable Activities to Experience in Limone Sul Garda
The crowds have disappeared, leaving behind missed opportunities to experience the stunning evenings or serene mornings. However, numerous visitors come to Limone for just a few hours. This charming destination is ideal for immersing oneself in the experience of spending a few days in the lovely yet compact Limone.
Although this is not a typical Limone itinerary, you can use it as day 1 of your itinerary and enjoy everything on the list once more, over a few days.
So, here are my suggestions on the activities or sights to experience in Limone sul Garda.
Wander the Roads
Limone sul Garda is one of the best attractions. They are overflowing with vibrant and colorful flowers, hanging down from window boxes and balconies. But my favorite thing is the cute old houses of Limone sul Garda. As you walk through the windy streets, you will pass small shops, restaurants, and stores. Limone is incredibly sweet.
Take a stroll along the Promenade.
The promenade of Limone del Garda showcases flags from various European nations. Furthermore, it has undergone recent renovations, resulting in a contemporary appearance. Limone del Garda’s promenade is remarkably stunning and ranks among the top destinations to explore in the area.
Encircled by splendor, you are presented with sights of exquisite Lake Garda on one side and can appreciate awe-inspiring mountain views on the opposite side. The scenery is extraordinary.
If you enjoy sitting and admiring the picturesque scenery, Garda Lake is the most Instagrammable place to be. Along the way, you will find several benches.
Indulge in a Gelato by the Port
The Harbor is full of colorful Italian houses, Mediterranean flowers, and people enjoying the sights, including wildlife such as turtles and swans. You can take in the surroundings and enjoy your dessert. This is one of the most beautiful places in Limone. The harbor is a great place to buy gelato and take a break.
Take a stroll on the Cyclopath
The cyclopath, which opened in the summer of 2018, is partially located above a beautiful lake and runs alongside the breathtaking mountains.
In order to reach around 3-4 kilometers to the north, you will need to travel, the cyclopath is not actually located in the city center and its length is approximately 3 kilometers. Pedestrians are also welcome, but this path was specifically built for bicycles.
But despite being a little bit farther, this is one of the best tourist places in Limone and worth the extra trouble.
I suggest visiting in the early hours of the day when there are not many individuals present.
Unwind and Rejuvenate at the Seashore
At this location, there is a wide range of choices for engaging in watersports. A pebble beach, which is relatively uncommon in Lake Garda, provides amenities such as restaurants and toilets. Additionally, there is a free beach available in this area.
Whether it’s day or night, you are able to go for a swim at the beach. It’s advisable to bring your own towels for your convenience. This beach is truly delightful for unwinding.
Explore the Tourism Museum
During my trip, I did not have a chance to visit one of the most interesting places in Limone sul Garda. However, I did not get the opportunity to visit a local landmark in Limone, which is the Tourism Museum.
Admission is complimentary if you possess the availability to visit. It is quite captivating, and there are numerous pictures. It documents the history of tourism in Limone, starting from its inception to the present day. It is a compact museum.
Discover Lemons at the Lemon Museum
You can find tons of lemon products here. The cultivation of lemons has made its mark on the town, although most of the lemons are now imported. Lemons are a big part of Limone’s history, and Limone is Italian for lemon. I wish I had visited the Lemon Museum, but I did not visit another museum.
The glasshouses are best seen at night, when they are illuminated. The Lemon Grove museum offers a walk through a lemon grove and provides lots of interesting information, giving a look into lemon growing.
Ride Around Lake Garda
On the relatively new bicycle path, a small section of the route spans approximately 120 km, encircling the lake. Lake Garda is extremely well-liked by bikers, but I personally haven’t attempted it, therefore I have a preference for walking over cycling.
Along the route, there are various tools available, such as air pumps, in case you encounter any difficulties while cycling around Lake Garda. The authorities have taken great care to ensure that riders and cyclists are well catered for during their visit.
Excursion by Boat to Malcesine
Taking a car to go across the lake is the fastest and most fun way to get there, and Malcesine is located right across the lake! The best way to do that is by taking a day trip to Malcesine from Limone.
Boat tickets can be bought on the spot. You can take a lovely boat tour from Limone to Malcesine in 20-30 minutes.
Malcesine is a bustling town set at the base of Mount Baldo, making it a great place for hiking and watersports. If you prefer to relax and stroll around, the old town and harbor are perfect for you.
Excursion to Riva del Garda
This stunning village, Riva del Garda, is brimming with a plethora of activities and breathtaking sights. Limone, situated on the northern shores of Lake Garda, is undeniably one of the most magnificent destinations to explore.
You can choose to drive or take a bus to get to Riva del Garda from Limone, or alternatively, you can also arrive by boat.
Are you delighted to hear that there are plenty of lovers of watersports in this perfect place? You can spend the day climbing up the steps to the top of the clock tower (which has wonderful views) and strolling along the colorful waterfront, exploring the exciting old town.
Excursion to Sirmione for a Day
It will take approximately 2 hours by bus. By car is slightly quicker, around 1-1 ½ hours. Traveling to Sirmione by boat takes about 3 hours – one way. Despite being a bit further than Riva del Garda, the travel time is worthwhile. Another fantastic excursion is a visit to the stunning town of Sirmione.
Once you arrive at this village, which sits on the southern peninsula, you can explore the ancient Roman villa, the ruins of Catullo, and also find a castle to discover. You can enjoy the beautiful houses and the winding little streets of the old town.
Explore the Market in Limone
Are you still wondering where to go in Limone in the mornings during the winter months, as Limone Market is not held on Tuesdays?
This Market is definitely one of the events you should see while in Limone, and it is a tradition. It is the perfect place to pick up local products and souvenirs, along with other towns along Lake Garda.
Limone in Lake Garda allows you to see one of its cutest towns, and this list includes the top places to visit in Limone, where Limone will help you have a fabulous trip by pointing out its most notable points of interest.
Nighttime Activities in Limone
When you are in Limone, head to the upper part of Garda sul Limone and walk along the promenade named Via IV Novembre 24.
Personally, my top tip for visiting Limone at night is to find the bridge with the beautifully illuminated Italian flag. Additionally, you will also come across a pretty globe next to it. Some might say it’s corny, but there you will find beautifully illuminated musical instruments and another globe.

With a long history dating back to Roman times, it has gained popularity for its picturesque location.
