10. Machinarium

Developer: Amanita Design Publisher: Amanita Design.
Machinarium, Amanita’s steampunk adventure game that involves navigating the industrial world, revolves around the Black Cap Brotherhood gang kidnapping Berta. Only Josef, the robot, has the ability to rescue her. Although it may have seemed nonsensical, that’s a part of it.
The gameplay of Machinarium is not only simplistic, but also highly entertaining, making it truly excellent in the design world. One of the reasons why it is so captivating is because it brings to life a unique steampunk world, similar to Nightmare’s Little in its own way. Although some may find the aesthetics to be peculiar, this delightful tale of robot heroism and love leaves behind the horrors of Little Nightmares.
Solve riddles, uncover the remarkably profound narrative, and reunite with your robotic girlfriend in this eccentric mechanical adventure.
9. Pinstripe

Developer: Atmos Games Publisher: Atmos Games.
Pinstripe is an inspiring premise that comes with plenty of challenges, but it is also a grim premise. It’s the story of Teddy, a former minister, who descends into the afterlife to find his kidnapped three-year-old daughter. It’s quite literal in the way that you shouldn’t interpret it with Pinstripe. It’s very easy to interpret it as a little nightmares escape attempt.
Navigating through the icy terrain, Teddy defends against creatures and solves intelligent riddles using only a slingshot and his intelligence. If Little Nightmares had an actual combat system, it would bear even stronger resemblance to Pinstripe, as both games excel in their unique aesthetics and treacherous voyages through unfamiliar territories.
Pinstripe is loved for many of the same reasons as Little Nightmares – its artistic style, sound composition, and ambiance.
2. Inside

Developer: Playdead Publisher: Playdead.
There are few parallels quite like them, as they are both incredibly atmospheric and challenging. One of these games is Inside by Playdead. Whenever you ask for recommendations for games like Little Nightmares, these two games will always come up.
In both scenarios, you are just trying to survive. Inside is an allegory for the dynamic between the poor and the rich, focusing on conformity and control. The Maw, inhabited by slovenly individuals, is merely a snack for the rich. Meanwhile, in Little Nightmares, you live in worlds that want nothing more than to completely obliterate your soul, dealing with very dark and deep narratives in both games.
Inside conveys its message through captivating platforming and a distinctive art style that truly aids in defining the universe.
6. Obusite

Developer: Darkest Chamber Publisher: Darkest Chamber.
We’re not angry, but it functions so effectively. It’s a familiar equation, but a diminutive main character sneaks around a significantly larger world teeming with hostile behemoths. If you have played Little Nightmares, then all of this will appear incredibly similar. Not only does Obusite imitate the Little Nightmares franchise, it practically emanates directly from them.
Obusite, being an indie-developed game, can practically escape being a Little Nightmares clone. We could think of it as a spiritual successor, with deadly photographs that can trap you in a literal hell. While it delivers effective thrills overall, there are a few areas where TLC could be used.
Most importantly, it assists in filling the emptiness once you have completed all that you can with Seven and Mono.
3. Among the Sleep

Developer: Krillbite Studio Publisher: Krillbite Studio.
Engrossed in a terrifying escapade is David, a young child who might experience a bond in such a scenario, depending on the level of discomfort experienced during one’s formative years. Fleeing from a dreadful rendition of one’s mother, what did those exploits entail? Perhaps they did. However, as youngsters, we all embarked on magnificent journeys.
The game Sleep Among is probably based on the tone of a very sensitive topic and tackles a tale that is not happy. Throughout the game, the toddler represents something else, possibly the tormenting shadows, as he tries to find his way back home to his mother. The game also includes fantastical landscapes that he follows, and it introduces Teddy as his new friend shortly after his second birthday.
The game Nightmares, Little like blends reality and horror perfectly, and it tackles very real issues faced by children. It will resonate with many players as Sleep Among.
7. Sea of Solitude

Developer: Jo-Mei Games Publisher: Electronic Arts.
The game is all about the effects of loneliness, as it hides its core theme behind the tucked monstrosities within the deep blue. If you enjoyed the monsters of Little Nightmares, you will love the solitude of the Sea.
As Kay gets deeper into the titular sea, her world evolves around her. Solitude of Sea introduces you to a variety of creatures as you guide the protagonist, Kay, through the watery world, overcoming challenges and altering the landscape.
Solitude of the Sea is a healthy blend of engaging gameplay and emotional storytelling, where you’ll encounter monsters at the very least if you dare to come face-to-face with them.
8. Planet Alpha

Developer: Planet Alpha ApS Publisher: Team17 Digital Ltd.
Hope is a rare commodity and everything is deadly on Alpha Planet, a mysterious alien world where players are dropped. One significant part of the story is that many of these games have Little Nightmares as a common theme.
The use of solar energy allows you to change advantageously between night and day on the planet’s mechanics platformer, enabling you to traverse a vibrant and dynamic landscape. The goal is simply to stay alive long enough to understand why you are in this situation, similar to Little Nightmares. There are abundant perils for anyone trying to survive in this hostile landscape.
Planet Alpha is beautiful, but there are many extraterrestrial threats lying in wait for some hapless fool to make one wrong move.
5. Unravel

Developer: Coldwood Interactive Publisher: Electronic Arts.
Yarny may be a thread of yarn, but he is imbued with enough spirit to embark on a thrilling adventure across the beautiful landscapes of Northern Scandinavia. If the whimsical physics-based puzzler, Unravel, really drew you in, then you should have no issues finding the platforming of Little Nightmares appealing as well.
While spending a lot of time admiring the scenery in Unravel, Interactive Coldwood ensured to incorporate puzzles with visuals that engage the inhabitants and utilize the environment.
After you finish, make sure to give the sequel a look. It offers something more optimistic and uplifting, so approach Unravel with the understanding that you’re in for a different tone. Thematically, the two games are quite distinct. Yarny’s actions, narrated through a heartfelt tale of memories and family, take players on a visually stunning journey similar to that of Little Nightmares and Unravel.
4. Lone Survivor

Developer: Jasper Byrne Publisher: Superflat Games.
Survivor Lone is quite similar in ensuring that there is not a real moment of peace. The scenes behind happening to alluded what’s and monsters, and imagery make players feel very uncomfortable, very. Little Nightmares is a psychological horror through and through.
The game immerses you into a disease-ridden city, where the goal is to survive the psychological horrors brought by the life of a Lone Survivor. With a blend of stealth and combat, you have to craft various items and explore branching paths on your journey, all while enduring exhaustion and stress.
This horror pixelated game, Silent Hill and Tarsier’s series, sometimes gives off a great matching tone of Little Nightmares and feels like a crossbreed.
1. Limbo

Developer: Playdead Publisher: Playdead.
Like Little Nightmares, Limbo is frequently associated as the second game. Coming before Tarsier Studio’s horror title by six years, it was also the first game developed by Playdead. In Limbo, you search for your sister, whose destiny is uncertain. Various puzzles and numerous dangers will be scattered throughout your journey.
Poorly timed leaps are the actual hazards, however, there exists a colossal arachnid that is just as horrifying as it is immense. The presence of Limbo remains an enduring menace that instills fear and compels one to continue progressing. Gamers will discover themselves completing comparable objectives, and in terms of gameplay, the two games are exceedingly alike. Despite being five years older than Little Nightmares, Limbo still stands strong in its ability to rival the side-scrolling horror genre.
Limbo’s monochromatic style really captures the tone of the game. Which, as you can guess from its setting, is far from happy.
