5 Easy Exercises to Alleviate Underarm Fat

Let’s instead talk about an effective and realistic approach to getting rid of that stubborn pit of fat. You cannot spot-reduce or target fat by doing specific exercises, so let’s discourage the idea that you can “spot reduce” fat. This is the disclaimer I will give every time someone asks me what exercises they can do to reduce or eliminate armpit fat.

Genuine fat reduction implies that you will shed fat throughout your body, including your underarms.

Despite consistently working out for many years, I noticed that I had more fat peeking out of my underarm area when I wore tank tops in 2017 compared to previous years when I was leaner. This firsthand experience has made me realize the significance of this important point.

I can deploy my best strategies to reduce the overall bulge, or alternatively, I can pull it forward, tuck it, or grab it. Instead of having fat in my armpit, it does not deposit into my breasts, which is quite amusing to me as I am not very well-endowed in that area.

Great news! I have successfully managed to reduce the excess fat in my armpits, as well as in my hips and legs. It is obvious that I have lost weight overall, and you will be able to see this. Over the course of approximately 8 weeks, I have been primarily focused on tightening my nutrition. This has led to a decrease in the fat deposits, which were caused by consuming excess calories and carbs. The only truth is that the only reason I had gained weight was due to this surplus. Additionally, I have not been consistent with my workouts, which is the main reason for this.

5 Exercises to get rid of Armpit fat

Weight or resistance training and cardio exercises can help in burning fat, which is the primary aspect to consider. While there are exercises that specifically focus on the underarm area, it is important to note that targeting specific areas alone will not directly result in fat reduction in those areas. However, it will definitely lead to a transformation in the muscles that affect the overall appearance.

1. Pushup

5 exercises to target armpit fat include pushups

Regardless of the modification or style, the pushup is still an effective exercise that can be easily modified depending on your fitness level. When doing pushups, the muscles in your underarm, arm, chest, and arm are engaged, making them highly effective for training. I love pushups because they require zero equipment to do.

Pushups are simple exercises that can help you target and strengthen your chest and arm muscles, while also allowing you to reduce belly fat and overall body fat. The plank position is one of the best ways to work your core muscles without using any equipment or leaving the house, and it is comparable to a pushup.

How to do a pushup:

  • Lower yourself onto all fours, positioning your hands slightly wider than the width of your shoulders.
  • Extend your arms and legs.
  • Lower your torso until your chest almost comes into contact with the ground.
  • Take a break, then exert effort to lift yourself back up.
  • Repeat.
  • Execute the pushup by extending your arms and legs when you are prepared for the task. This alteration will enable you to execute additional repetitions and decrease the level of opposition. Position your knees on the ground (instead of toes) and execute the pushup from your knees after getting on all fours and extending your arms.

    2. Triceps Dumbbell Floor Press

5 exercises to target armpit fat include triceps press

The triceps are located on the back of the upper limb. They are a muscle surrounding the underarm, which becomes important because they are the muscle you want to work opposite to the muscle you want to get noticeable change in. Whenever you want results, you’ll want to work the opposite muscle.

When focusing on the underarm, it is crucial to engage both the upper back and upper front of the arms, which includes the triceps and biceps. We will discuss the biceps in more detail shortly.

You need a set of dumbbells because the press dumbbell triceps is a portable and simple movement. This is a good thing because it shifts the emphasis from your chest to your triceps, and it limits the range of motion when you lie on the floor. It also allows you to use heavier weights than you could with other exercises that simply isolate your triceps.

How to do a triceps dumbbell floor press:

  • Lie on your back, either on the ground or on a bench.
  • Attach your elbows firmly to your rib cage and begin with a 90-degree angle from the wrist, to the elbow, to the shoulder, holding a dumbbell in both hands.
  • Lift the weights upwards in a linear movement, guiding them towards the overhead, while imagining your fist imitating a punching action towards the sky.
  • Lower the dumbbells directly while maintaining a firm, vertical wrist position.
  • Bring your elbows back towards your ribcage.
  • Repeat.
  • If you are a beginner, it is easy to start with a lighter-weight dumbbell and perform an easy triceps press. It is always safe to start with a super heavy weight of 1 pound and gradually increase the weight as you progress. You have full control of the weights, where you are certain that you have 100% control, and it is important to always start with a weight that is safe for your current fitness level.

    3. Bicep Curl

You’re focusing on these muscles, which guarantees that this exercise effectively isolates the biceps. The muscles situated at the front of the upper arm enhance the power in bicep curls.

How to do a bicep curl:

  • Stand upright with your feet approximately hip-width apart. Maintain the engagement of your abdominal muscles.
  • Hold a dumbbell in both hands. Let your arms dangle loosely at the sides of your body with palms facing forward.
  • While exhaling, lift the dumbbells by bending your elbows and keeping your shoulders close to your rib cage. Move the weights up towards your shoulders, ensuring that your upper arms remain stable and your shoulders are relaxed.
  • Bring down the weights to the initial position.
  • Repeat.
  • 4. Dumbbell Chest Press

The optimal dumbbell chest press is an effective exercise for enhancing upper body strength. Generally, females tend to have less dominance in the muscles of the upper body, making this exercise particularly important as we get older. Having a firm, well-trained, and strong upper body will help maintain the ability to perform crucial daily activities, thus promoting freedom and independence for a longer period of time!

How to do a dumbbell chest press:

  • Lying on a level bench or on the ground with your feet pressing against the floor.
  • Pull your shoulders downward and backward in order to push them against the bench.
  • Grasp two dumbbells with palms oriented towards the front and your thumbs encircling the grip.
  • On a breath in, gradually lower the dumbbells just a little bit wider than your mid-chest with a controlled and slow movement.
  • Lightly press the weights against your chest.
  • On a breath out, push your arms upwards, maintaining a slight bend in your elbows.
  • Place the dumbbells slightly below the level of your eyes.
  • Repeat.
  • 5. Bench Triceps Dip

Dips for triceps are an effective exercise that can be done anywhere, whether you’re at home using sturdy chairs or at the gym using a weight bench. Not only do dips target your triceps, but they also engage your shoulders and chest. I love dips for triceps because they are a bodyweight exercise that works your triceps more than just regular tricep exercises.

Here’s how to do a triceps dip with a chair:

  • Prepare yourself by retracting your shoulders, expanding your chest, and compressing your shoulder blades inwards.
  • Hands should be planted firmly on the bottom of the chair and positioned directly underneath your shoulders and just outside the hips.
  • Stretch your legs forward on the ground.
  • Flex your elbows and bring down your hips towards the ground.
  • Push up through your palms and extend your arms, returning your body to the initial position.
  • Apply pressure to the posterior part of the arm when reaching the highest point of the motion.
  • Repeat the activity 8-10 times. Perform multiple sets of 8-10 repetitions as a component of the remainder of your exercise regimen.
  • There is no simple, singular path to changing the appearance of your underarms or getting rid of the dreaded bra bulge or fat underarm when all the muscles around the underarm area consistently work and a healthy diet is practiced, noticeable results will happen.

The exercises above will target the surrounding muscles of the underarm and the connected muscle groups to help you get rid of flab and improve the appearance and firmness of the armpit, in order to get ready for sleeveless tops.
