Karon Blake Shooting: Court docs reveal new details
Nico Hobson, a member of the go-go community in D.C.’S 5th Ward, spoke to FOX 5’s Stephanie Ramirez, stating that Lewis Jason is not the type of person who engages in violent acts and has known him for a long time. Hobson mentioned that Lewis Jason knew the man who allegedly shot and killed 13-year-old Karon Blake.
WASHINGTON – A grand jury has charged the D.C. Government worker accused of shooting and murdering 13-year-old Karon Blake.
The verdict against Jason Lewis was handed down on Wednesday.
As previously reported by FOX 5, Lewis purportedly shot and fatally wounded Blake on January 7th.
Lewis, an employee of the Department of Parks and Recreation, asserts that before the shooting occurred, Blake was unlawfully entering vehicles in the 1000 block of Quincy Street.

Jason Lewis, 41
Lewis walked out into his patio courtyard area and thought that someone might be at his door. The police officers verified his concealed carry permit, which was registered in the database of the D.C. Police Gun Registration. Lewis was prompted to investigate and grab his firearm when he heard a noise, and he was in bed, as he told the police officers, according to court documents.
According to the court documents, Lewis informed the officers that he was positioned in the entrance of his courtyard when Blake approached him. Lewis stated that he spotted a car on the road and shouted, “Hello.”
Mother of Karon Blake breaks silence after son’s death
For the first time in three weeks, the mother of 13-year-old Karon Blake ended her silence, following reports from city officials that a D.C. Worker had shot and fatally wounded a teenager believed to be involved in car burglaries.
Lewis’ security camera did not reveal any footage of Blake coming onto his property. Court papers revealed that Lewis was standing in his yard when officers told him that Blake had been fired.
Following the shooting incident, members of the community assembled in the locality to seek explanations for the teenager’s demise.
A serious criminal court hearing will occur in the upcoming week.
