What’s the Story?
Will her heart be shattered? Will she establish genuine friendships? As soon as she lays eyes on the other wheelchairs, walkers, and counselors who comprehend her situation, she immediately becomes enthusiastic. However, her enthusiasm quickly fades when she sees the other wheelchairs, walkers, and counselors who understand. Melody deeply regrets her impulsive decision to shop for camp equipment, pack it all in the family SUV, and drive for hours to the camp’s location. After engaging in these activities, Melody experiences a profound sense of remorse. Surprisingly, a spot becomes available, and camp is scheduled to commence in a few days. The camp, known as Camp Green Gables, is where her parents assist her in applying. “Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely!” She types on her Medi-Talker. Yet, upon discovering a camp specifically designed for children like her – children with diverse and unique needs – Melody immediately decides to attend. Due to her cerebral palsy and reliance on a wheelchair and communication device, she realizes that her choices are restricted by her specific requirements. In OUT OF MY HEART, Melody Brooks, a twelve-year-old residing in Ohio, is seeking something to occupy her summer vacation.

I should definitely recommend this excellent book! Melody is a great role model who teaches us not to underestimate disabled people. She is physically restricted, but she is able to get back to camp and run away with Melody on a scary horse scene. It is very impressive because she cannot read two year olds but she should have put it up and have I. She has a crush on a boy in this book, but there is no kissing or anything happening. She is smart, funny, loving, kind, and can be independent physically as she is.
