Shroomer’s Handbook: 15 Immersive Things to Do on Shrooms

Prioritizing the establishment of a nurturing environment, ease, and individual security is crucial when engaging in these endeavors with a receptive attitude. By promoting a more profound bond with oneself, the surroundings, and the realm of creativity, these recommendations seek to enrich your experience.

During your trip, it might be beneficial to talk to a therapist about integrating them into your life. It is always recommended to have more introspective recommendations about what could spur up during your trip. While discotheques and museums can be good places for social doses (2.0-1.0g) and (2.0g-2.5g), it is advisable to refrain from taking high doses (3.0g) in public and instead opt for lower doses and walks in nature. Whether you are seeking introspection, a harmonious connection with nature, or creative expression, this collection of experiences offers a diverse range of options to enrich your mushroom journey. It is important to choose activities that resonate with nature and align with your comfort level.

Unquestionably, one of the best things to do while being in nature is to experience the beauty and delicacy of everything surrounding you. Each tree seems to breathe in its own way, and the canopy of leaves forms imaginative figures. You can find a local park or a hiking trail where you can freely roam. However, it is highly recommended to have a trusted sober companion with you, especially if you are not experienced with mushrooms. Mushrooms can help you appreciate the beauty that lies within every organism and bring you closer to the living things around you. Undoubtedly, indulging in nature while on mushrooms is one of the best things to do, and vice versa.

2. Enjoy Some Music

It is like you are leaving home without attending a concert. You can also check out some of your favorite bands’ live albums to feel immersed in the experience. Some albums include “Le fil” by Camille and “B Jennifer You Love I” by Jockstrap, “Discovery” by Daft Punk, and “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd. Before, you may not have heard the music in layers, but now you can start picking out the different layers. Find an album that is cohesive from start to end and the music will be elevated to new heights. It is hard to explain to someone who hasn’t partaken in a trip (and it is one of the best things to do on shrooms), but it is really a psychedelic experience. Anyone who has gone on a psychedelic trip can attest to the different sounds of music.

3. Create Art

Produce a masterpiece, so do not feel pressured to evaluate your artwork after your journey. There is no one to occupy your time, where you are simply sketching to return to a state of youthful artistic confidence and originality. Allow yourself to blend hues, as they are effortless to work with and truly enjoyable to utilize watercolors or pastels. I suggest engaging in any type of artistic expression, do not worry if you are not in practice. Experiment with colors in your artwork, so it will feel as though your hand is moving on its own and before you realize it, you are generating some form of artwork. You can create, do not overthink it and it will astonish what you can produce. Allow your artwork to guide your journey – you will be amazed to perceive yourself as an artist producing artwork while under the influence of psychedelics. One of my personal preferred activities to engage in while consuming psilocybin mushrooms is to create artwork.

4. Engage in Dance

More and more people are finding mushrooms to be a fun choice of drugs on the dancefloor. Of course, it is important to make sure you are not taking a full dose, so a lower dose of around 1.5 grams works best. This is enough to feel the effects but not enough to weigh you down. During the trip, we have established different sounds of music that can make your body feel looser on the dancefloor, with colorful lights shining throughout the room and the volume blasting. Just make sure you don’t mix mushrooms with alcohol or any other drugs. Also, stay hydrated throughout the night!

5. Enjoy a Film

If you are not already familiar with something and are looking for a comfortable experience while watching a movie, then Samsara or Baraka are the best choices. These documentary experimental movies, such as Microcosmos or Planet Blue Earth, are also great options if you love nature documentaries. Additionally, Planet Earth, Blue Planet, or Microcosmos are also great choices if you want to relax and watch something while on mushrooms.

6. Create Melodies

Try out the free trial of Ableton Live, if you’re on Windows. Apple users can get GarageBand for free on their phones and laptops, which comes with a plethora of instrument presets and loops. If you want to start making music but don’t know where to begin or don’t have any instruments to play, you can resort to using some free software to make your life easier. Take advantage of this moment to record your best Mariah Carey-like vocals and try experimenting with new singing techniques. If you don’t know how to play any instruments, you could even try learning some quick music theory. And if you already know how to play an instrument, you can experiment with effects and chord progressions. Your creativity has no limits, and you can create a collage of musical sounds and edit them with effects on your computer. You might be surprised to learn that you can even create music in altered states of consciousness. If you’ve never picked up a guitar before, now is the perfect time to start learning how to play. And even if you’re not musically inclined, this is a great opportunity to expose yourself to music. Experiment with adding high amounts of reverb and delay to create that quintessential psychedelic sound. And if you’re tripping on shrooms while making music, record yourself and play around with synths and a looper. This is mostly what I do when I lock myself in my room during my trips. Making music is a unique experience, and it’s even more unique when you’re tripping.

7. Visit an Art Gallery

Museum or aquarium! If you’re not into art, then check out your local science museum. I often think about experiencing La Magritte’s “La Clef des Songes” while looking out into a vast mountainous horizon, rather than staring at a flat painting. If your local art museum has a surrealism wing, definitely check it out. The first time I ever tripped on mushrooms, a friend took me to an incredible museum experience. But never drive while on shrooms! If you’re not feeling good, make sure you have a sober person you trust to drive you home. Many people find that a moderate to low dose of mushrooms can make a museum trip very enjoyable. However, higher doses can disconnect you from reality and make your body feel heavy. So, I wouldn’t recommend going to a museum on a high dose. This can only be done with a manageable dose. Just wanted to preface this.

8. Practice Yoga

Practicing yoga can be one of the most relaxing and healing things to do, and you can integrate it into your own life. Exploring your favorite branch of yoga can help you start and mixed with psychedelics, it can serve as a way to tune in with your surroundings, feel connected to yourself, and destress. In addition, it can help you with flexibility and mobility, leading to very good sessions that make your body feel looser. After years of practice, yoga can help you reach psychedelic-like states akin to nirvana. Many people devote their lives to this certain branch of yoga, as it can deeply serve as a spiritual practice. It is a fact that yoga is not often covered in its entirety, including its importance and breadth of history, in modern western yoga studios, while it is deeply rooted in the cultures of Buddhism and Hinduism.

9. Diary

To fully benefit from your trip and ensure that you remember to integrate it, it is important to stay sober. Journaling while tripping will provide you with deeper insights and allow you to explore your subconscious more easily. You may be surprised by what comes out when you talk to a trusted therapist or friend about your writings and revisit them. Practice writing in a stream of consciousness and pour your words onto paper multiple times, letting your subconscious guide you. If you don’t know what to write or how to journal, simply put pen to paper and don’t overthink it. Journaling will help you further explore and bring up any specific memories or feelings that surfaced during your trip. Instead of ruminating on these thoughts during or after your trip, journaling can help you process them. It may also open your mind to more feelings, thoughts, and memories throughout the trip. Journaling your thoughts can be one of the most beneficial things to do while on mushrooms, as it helps you learn more about your state of being.

10. Practice Mindfulness

I would recommend meditating before your trip as it can help you be ready for the experience. Meditating can make your trip more manageable by allowing you to let go of fear and anxiety, and focus on your breath. It can also make bad or challenging trips less overwhelming. If you feel like you are drifting away from reality while meditating, you can try visualizing yourself in the sea, letting all thoughts pass like waves, and focusing on your breathing. This can enhance the meditating experience and make it feel like you are on higher doses of shrooms. However, it is important to not be scared and to remember that meditating while experiencing body-of-out and for longer periods, starting from 5 minutes, can be done.

11. Beautify Your Home

Out! Don’t be afraid to try it, try to elevate your interior space design with statement pieces and unique items. If you own a few pieces that are retrofuturism or postmodernism inspired, start from there to find inspiration. If you have no idea where to start, make tactful and intentional design choices to create the perfect space. Once you start working on your space, make sure to balance and decorate it properly. If there is a lack of balance or missing colors, use pops of color to show your personal style. Based on my personal experience, tripping while decorating my home allows me to have a better sense of spatial awareness. It also allows me to plan mentally and figure out exactly what the room needs. However, I must mention that it may be harder to do this while on higher doses of psychedelics like mushrooms or acid. While decorating my apartment on psychedelics, I always raise an eyebrow when talking about it with people. Many people find it intriguing how colors feel more vibrant and the world feels more 3D while on psychedelics.

12. Engage in a Meaningful Discussion

Remember to do your own research after any accidental fall victim of drug-induced misinformation. Being in an altered state of consciousness can leave you susceptible and vulnerable to false information. Engaging in enlightening and productive discussions can help you see the world differently and tackle philosophical concepts. While having a conversation during a trip, it can be difficult to stay focused and match the energy of the person you’re talking to. However, it’s important to make sure your friend knows that you are on mushrooms and willing to engage in a discussion. Instead of keeping it all in your head, it’s better to talk it out and listen to the person you’re discussing with. A shroom trip can make you have certain “Aha!” Moments, whether it’s about religion, mathematics, physics, or your own life.

13. Have a Shower

It is always good practice to start your trip on a good note, so taking a shower before a mushroom trip can help you feel radiant and effervescent. During the shower, you may find yourself losing track of time while the feeling of water on your body is incredibly soothing. Even without knowing what is happening, the effects of mushrooms may increase during your shower, possibly due to the increased body temperature. Personally, I have found that steamy hot showers can enhance the effects of mushrooms, but if that’s not your thing, it’s totally fine. I prefer to lean towards the hot side of showers. You can enhance the experience by taking a nice shower, lighting a candle or incense, and playing some music. A shower can completely change the vibe of the trip and make you feel renewed and refreshed. It is a great way to elevate any mushroom trip.

14. Practice Self-Reflection

Do you want to be on the path of life that you desire and serve as a “reset” by having moments of self-reflection in higher doses? During your mushroom trip, taking some time for post-integration and reflecting on the parts of yourself that may need fixing can be hugely beneficial, especially when you find yourself unhappy. It can also be a great opportunity to reflect upon your life and see how happy you are with where you are. So, if you want to have some self-reflection during your trip, it is important to have this intention from the beginning, even before taking any mushrooms. Taking a trip with the intention of doing some self-reflection can teach you a lot about yourself.

15. Deal with Your Feelings

Being able to create a room where you can experience new and receptive emotions can be an incredibly liberating experience. It is a good idea to revisit this idea and further explore the root of these emotions with a certified mental health practitioner. Perhaps you have been feeling a lot of anger towards your ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, as it has been clawing at the back of your mind for the past couple of months. Maybe during your trip, you just need a nice cry and to release the anger that has been weighing you down in life. If you feel certain emotions such as sadness or anger during your trip, it can be beneficial to explore these emotions in order to better understand yourself and to spur personal growth throughout your life.
