Officials identified the victims on Tuesday as Lashyd Merritt, aged 20, Dymir Stanton, aged 29, Ralph Moralis, aged 59, Daujan Brown, aged 15, and Joseph Wamah, aged 31.
The two individuals who sustained injuries were a toddler and a teenager, according to authorities. Both were in a stable state.
The shooting occurred throughout four city blocks, according to the authorities.
Reporters informed Philadelphia. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw that the perpetrator, characterized as a 40-year-old man, donned a bullet-resistant vest and wielded an AR-style rifle, a pistol, and a police scanner. Outlaw stated that the culprit was apprehended “without any additional events” as law enforcement officers pursued and ultimately cornered him in an alley while he was discharging his weapon.
Authorities announced on Tuesday that the person, whose identity remains unknown, currently under investigation, has not yet been charged, although it is expected that charges will be brought forth soon.
The outlaw denounced the “meaningless act of aggression” and promised a comprehensive inquiry.
“What occurred last evening was unbelievably repulsive and terrifying,” Outlaw stated.

Another individual, whom Outlaw stated retaliated against the suspect, was also apprehended.
Outlaw stated that she had “completely no clue why this occurred.” It wasn’t immediately evident whether the victims had any affiliation with the perpetrator.
Outlaw stated that at present, our knowledge is limited to the fact that this person decided to leave their home and concentrate on particular persons.
The first gunshots occurred at approximately 8:30 p.M. In the Kingsessing area of the city, as reported by CBS Philadelphia..
The Chief of Police in Philadelphia., Small Inspector, later stated that a man who said he had just returned home to check on his son in a private residence in the vicinity where some shootings had occurred earlier was approached at the crime scene by the first processing officer. It was revealed that the man’s son was found unresponsive on the living room floor, according to the father.
The officer summoned medical personnel, who declared the 31-year-old deceased at the location.
Small stated that the detectives discovered approximately seven bullets in the dwelling, mentioning that he had been fired upon at least once in his facial region and multiple times in his chest and torso vicinity.
The Police believe that the son of the seventh victim was in the house where the shootings took place because they were ballistics.
Small noted that during the interval, the father approached one of them without hearing any gunshots, while numerous officers and detectives were searching the previous crime scene. This is because the police are aware that there were no shots fired after the initial burst of gunfire.
