On any alternative program, one might observe a sightless, sarcastic, potentially alcoholic woman in her twenties who assumes the role of a prominent protagonist. This fact holds particular significance for a television network that broadcasts various inclusive series like ‘Jane the Virgin’, ‘All American’, and ‘The 100’. ‘In the Dark’ stands out as one of the most forward-thinking shows on The CW.
In its 13-episode-long Season 1, we were introduced to Murphy Mason (Perry Mattfield) and her eclectic group of friends, which included her roommate, Jess Damon (Brooke Markham), and her colleague, Felix Bell (Morgan Krantz).
Murphy’s parents run a guiding school for dogs, Hope, where she works along with Felix and Jess. She talks to Tyson, a teenager who Murphy saved from a violent mugging and became her closest friend until he gets killed. She is disappointed with work and life, feeling disassociated, but still continues to work with Felix and Jess.
In Season 1, Murphy saw that Sommer Rich, a cop who sympathizes with Murphy because she is Chloe’s blind daughter, realized that Dean was Tyson’s killer. She understood that the police were not doing anything to solve Tyson’s murder, so she took action to confess to Dean, which caused a fiery turmoil in his relationship with Murphy.
Nia now informs Murphy that she and her companions will be employed by her, following the revelation of the events. Jess and Felix unlawfully acquire funds from Nia Bailey, Dean’s illicit superior, to sustain the operation of Guiding Hope temporarily.
The next step is for Felix and Jess to quickly find the hospital where she leaves. Nia’s plan is to worry about her friends and herself. Now that Murphy has been arrested after giving her confession to the police, Dean is in the hospital. The premiere of Season 2 picks up right from the end of Season 1.
Inside a storage compartment utilized by the offender and her accomplices, they ultimately succeed in securing Nia’s funds. Nevertheless, Felix is inclined towards preserving Guiding Hope and exhibits slight reluctance. Both Jess and Murphy concur to return Nia’s funds.
Murphy’s recording of Dean’s acknowledgment of wrongdoing becomes even more detrimental as it is deemed inadmissible due to her lack of consent. Presently, Murphy and her companions find themselves trapped with no means of evasion, and it appears that one of Nia’s acquaintances returns their money, regrettably.
When Murphy confronts him, he tries to make it out that Murphy is the one harassing him. The police chief promises that he will bring justice to Nia, himself defending against the evidence that is destroyed.
We are excited for the season of relaxation and cannot wait to see how it goes. The CW’s episode, which reveals that someone else could be murdered, was an exciting part of the flash-forward. With the first episode of ‘Dark’, the show continues to be the same sardonic and exciting experience that viewers are eager for.
‘In the Dark’ is broadcasted on The CW on Thursday evenings at 9/8c.
