FACT CHECK: Is Jet Li Still Alive?

There are only a few pure martial arts stars in Hollywood, and Li Jet is one of them. Sometimes, people confuse him with the late Bruce Lee, who is a naturalized Singaporean citizen.

Because of a knee injury, his martial arts journey came to a conclusion in China on 26 April 1963. He maintained his championship status from 1975 to 1979 and additionally achieved the position of the national victor at the tender age of 12. Li initiated his Wushu education during his early years.

Many people are wondering if he is still alive, as it has been a long time since they have seen him star in a blockbuster. However, years ago he declined the offer. He was also requested by President Nixon to become his personal bodyguard, as he had turned into an artist martial. He has appeared in films like Unleashed, Hero, Kingdom, and Forbidden. He didn’t stop there, as he wrote his own destiny and came to Hollywood, where his fame continued to grow.

Contrary to rumors, Jet Li is alive and well at 60, still starring in films despite being diagnosed with spinal problems and Hyperthyroidism in the 2010s. His schedule has been drastically reduced after being diagnosed, but he continues to star in movies. Speculations similar to those that arose in 2018, when rumors of his death first surfaced, were squashed by his recent post about his last film, Disney’s Mulan, in 2020.

Li Jet, who is now 60 years old, is alive and in good health. He is a well-known celebrity with a net worth of $250 million. Although he is not very popular among the public, he is not considered dead. Li Jet starred in the Hollywood film “Mulan” in 2020, where he portrayed the Emperor of China. Prior to that, he appeared in “The Expendables 3” in 2014. Between 2016 and 2017, he appeared in two Chinese films, “League of Gods” and “Dao Shou Gong.”

In 2023, Rinpoche Mingyur Yongey, a Tibetan monk and meditation guru, visited Nepal with his wife Nina and their two children, Jane and Jade. While he hasn’t been seen much in films, that doesn’t mean he is idle – in fact, he just posted on Instagram here.

He posted on a well-known platform, assuring his fans that he was doing well. Speculations arose after he was seen looking sick and thinner, with his head shaved in 2018. This is not the first time rumors about the actor’s death have circulated.

“I would like to thank all my fans who expressed concerns about my health. I’m doing great and feeling great!”

However, if he is thriving, why isn’t he frequently starring in movies?

Why Doesn’t Jet Li Act in Films Anymore?

The condition returned more potent when the actor could only mitigate the impact with medications until 2013. Nonetheless, this ailment hindered him from engaging in his martial arts regimen and maintaining his fitness, and in 2010, he received a diagnosis of Hyperthyroidism.

He significantly slowed down his career due to extensive problems with his spinal diagnosis, which also led to him becoming wheelchair-bound. If he didn’t take a break, doctors informed him that he could put his body through intense training scenes in action, potentially making his condition worse. As a result, his metabolism and heart rate were affected by the Jet Li’s fuller appearance, which visibly showed the effects of the disease.

Due to being led by Keanu Reeves, the director of the John Wick movies, Chad Stahelski expressed his desire to include Jet Li and Jackie Chan in the series. However, the actor continues to receive opportunities to appear in blockbuster films. Supporters of the actor and individuals who admire martial arts films have witnessed a limited presence of the actor on screen. This elucidates the reason behind it.

It will be interesting to see if the film stars Li Jet. Nothing has been confirmed yet about John Wick 5, although it has been announced.
