I didn’t know until today that Aaron Judge, the outfielder for the New York Yankees, wears a size 17 shoe. He joined Joe La Puma on the latest episode of Sneaker Shopping.
Seldom do individuals purchase footwear in sizes so enormous that certain manufacturers don’t even make them and the majority of stores don’t carry these shoes, which can be an immense inconvenience when searching for any sneakers larger than size 13.
Joe La Puma asked Aaron Judge what it was like growing up and trying to purchase massive sneakers when he wore a shoe size 17. Judge, who was already wearing a size 17 shoe by his sophomore year of high school, discussed how he was never able to partake in the experience of shopping for shoes like his friends did. Below is the video along with the quotes from Aaron Judge.
Aaron Judge Discusses The Difficulty Of Buying Shoes For His Monster Feet
Are you a size 17? Joe La Puma asked, mentioning that Shaq wears a size 22, Yao Ming’s shoe size is also quite large, and Kevin Durant wears size 18. He then asked about the challenges of finding shoes in your size when you were younger and how it is now.
It was challenging, which rendered it difficult, perhaps when I reached the second year of high school (at the age of 17), you know, after you assigned those dimensions… I shouldn’t be grumbling, buddy… Aaron Judge.
“No, you’re not growing that quickly,” she would say. And she would be approximately halfway through the academic year, and I would say, “Mom, my feet are hurting me. We need to go up a size.” Suddenly, there would be these Jordans/Nikes, the shoes I desired, and I would select them. Therefore, at school, those are the shoes you would wear. Throughout the year, you would receive only one pair of shoes. It’s quite amusing to grow up.
“I’ll meet you outside.’ Okay, 14? I understand that you want the largest size. ‘I’m interested in knowing what you like.’ I plan to buy these size 11 shoes. ‘I’m interested in buying these ones, I’m going to get them.’ ‘I’m choosing shoes for all your boys, I’m picking some out.’ You and I are going to the mall, it’s going to be challenging. It was not until I reached high school that I realized I wore size 17 shoes, but it wasn’t a problem.”
I don’t remember ever being 17, and I used to work at a sneaker store because it’s really hectic. Yeah, it must have been tough.
Aaron Judge: “Everything is done online. You simply make your purchase through the internet and collect it…”
Joe La Puma: “Bay Area?” (Footwear publication).
Aaron Judge: “You’re aware of it. East Bay.”

Mainstream baseball sneakers for MLB fans?
Currently, that kind of experience is not present in baseball. As a child, he could attend a basketball game and witness Kobe wearing sneakers, then proceed to purchase those for himself to wear at school. Later, Aaron Judge was questioned about his customized cleats, and he expressed his desire to expand the sport.
Create a set of baseball cleats that can be transformed into street shoes; it would be fascinating to witness a sneaker company accomplishing this. According to Aaron, he has been persistently attempting to discuss this idea with certain individuals. Furthermore, he mentions several MLB stars as potential catalysts for the popularity of sneakers within the MLB fan community.
It is interesting that they were able to find his size 17s sitting at the back of Stadium Goods. At the end of the Judge episode, he spends $4,832 on Nike sneakers.
