On the bombshell affair of ABC’s expert PR, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, it was purely an internal matter of the network, which created unnecessary fallout, and fuel was added to the fire in response, said a spokesperson.
Speaking to Sun US, Coram-James Edward, the head of PR firm GoUp, revealed that executives at GMA and ABC believed that the mishandling of the romance between co-anchors of GMA3 resulted in a crisis that snowballed and put the reputation of the studio at stake.
As insiders at the time told Page Six, “[ABC brass] does not seem to [be] very competent in how they’re handling this.”.
The expert argued that an investigation should be opened by the network into the matter, as serious misconduct in this category is usually not taken lightly.
The infamous pair and, consequently, the network, which “amplified the repercussions and prolonged” the crisis, were thrust into the limelight with the initiation of the investigation.
According to Coram-James, “Affairs are not one of those instances. The organization must be perceived as acting responsibly, in which scenario the accusations made involve significant misconduct, particularly when it is advisable in certain circumstances.”
The two main characters on ABC had to relocate, but I don’t think so. In this case, ABC made a notable (although typical) mistake in my view. Affairs, as regrettable and unsuitable as they may be, are a regular occurrence in life. The audience will probably move on swiftly.
Interestingly, Kevin Goodwin, the president of ABC News, dismissed any violation of company policy regarding the relationship between the pair.
However, she added that it turned out to be an internal and external “disturbance.”
Meanwhile, the senior executive clarified that the affairs are within the media sector, and unfavorable media attention is an additional factor.
However, he asserted that the suitable reaction would address the negative publicity, which was not the case in the Robach-Holmes incident.
“When the story initially emerges, it can seem like the disorder will never cease,” he included.
“The consequences will be how poorly dictate frequently will indicate this at rendered choices the as significant is involvement which at this point is the,” stated the expert in public relations.
“Water pour can they, made decisions good if. Fire the on petrol pour can decisions bad those, made are decisions bad if.”
“Perceiving this as the optimal approach to safeguard themselves,” employees adopt a defensive stance and attempt to create a gap between themselves and the principal, referring to ABC and GMA’s reaction as a “typical error.”
However, he asserted that it only functions in certain instances.
“There was no necessity for it to become a scandal. Furthermore, the network and the key figures are once again providing support to the notion that there is a crisis and exaggerating the magnitude of the crisis by separating.”
Ultimately, Coram-James affirmed the talent of Robach and Holmes.
“Both individuals possess exceptional talent and are highly respected speakers, and their inappropriate behavior is by no means a blunder that will ruin their careers. They will be granted further work opportunities.”
In January of this year, Holmes and Robach separated from the network after 8 and 10 years of working there, respectively.
