After her husband died from coronavirus, she found an emotional goodbye note on his phone

This signifies the beginning of a farewell message that a woman found on her husband’s mobile device after his death from the coronavirus this week.

CNN was informed by Katie Coelho, Jonathan Coelho’s wife, that he sadly passed away on April 22nd following a 28-day struggle in the hospital, with 20 of those days spent on a ventilator.

Now she is dealing with the unexpected sorrow, and questioning how their two young kids will respond.

On Anderson Cooper’s show, she stated on Friday night, “They know only pictures and videos through their dad, and they don’t know that they’ve lost the greatest human being.”

She noted that Jonathan seemed to be getting better, and the healthcare experts had contemplated taking him off the respirator either on Thursday or Friday.

She was unable to bid farewell. When she arrived, Jonathan had succumbed to cardiac arrest resulting from his symptoms of the coronavirus. However, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Katie mentioned that she received a phone call from a nurse at the medical facility in Danbury, Connecticut, who requested her presence.

In his absence, Jonathan left something special for Katie to discover, even though the couple didn’t get the proper farewell they deserved.

Gone but not forgotten

She said, “He appeared frightened and was lying there, and they brought me into his room. He kept saying ‘I’m sorry’ and had a calm expression on his face.”

Katie gathered a synthetic sack packed with her spouse’s belongings and made her way back to her house.

Katie exclaimed, “I wanted to retrieve all the pictures of my kids and my husband from his phone, due to some inexplicable delirium.”

She powered on the phone and discovered a message from Jonathan along with his life coverage details.

He penned, “I am incredibly fortunate, which fills me with immense pride to be your spouse and the father to Braedyn and Penny.” “Katie, you embody the epitome of beauty, compassion, and nurturing. You are genuinely unique…Ensure that you embrace life with joy and the same fervor that ignited my love for you. Witnessing you excel as a mother to our children is the most extraordinary encounter I have ever had.”

Katie expressed her surprise when she laid eyes on it.

She stated, “And in order to ensure that they were aware of the extent of my affection for them and my contentment in their presence,” I am uncertain whether I would have possessed the resilience to compose a farewell letter to my family, had I been unwell and experiencing discomfort.

The story of Katie Coelho was initially reported by BuzzFeed.

Taking necessary precautions

The couple who have been together for seven years crossed paths during their college years. They cultivated a bond and also engaged in romantic connections with other people for a period of time.

“He was consistently my first choice,” she informed Cooper from CNN. “He possessed an astonishing method of always making you feel secure.”

Finally, in 2011, Jonathan exclaimed, “Why haven’t we been seeing each other all this time?”.

According to Katie, Braedyn was born with multiple medical challenges, including cerebral palsy. They tied the knot and now have two offspring, Braedyn, who is 2 years old, and Penelope, who is 10 months old.

However, the journey to becoming parents was challenging. The couple experienced two miscarriages and underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Jonathan worked at a courthouse near his home while taking care of the kids full time because Katie’s health complexities made it difficult for her to survive after Braedyn was born. The doctors had predicted that Braedyn would only live for six weeks.

Katie and Braedyn made sure to go above and beyond in reducing their exposure to germs by quarantining and practicing social distancing at home. They considered their family’s individual risk to be high.

Jonathan remembered how worried he was about telling her just what the potential was for her to come to work from her stay-at-home state’s prior two weeks, Katie said.

Jonathan, an essential employee, was still on probation at work. Katie said that she began self-quarantining at home, and all of Braedyn’s therapy appointments were canceled.

In the preceding week, Jonathan had encountered an individual who had received a positive result, and on March 23rd, he underwent a coronavirus test.

‘I can hear him so clearly in my mind’

Jonathan tested positive on March 25th after being admitted to the hospital one day later due to the onset of headaches, coughing, stomach ailments, and difficulties with his sense of taste and smell.

According to everyone, Katie stated that her spouse was a fit individual with no pre-existing health issues.

When you’ve heard stories of people passing, and you’ve read the stories, it’s almost like you’re looking for a justification, but my husband doesn’t fall under any of these categories – no pre-existing conditions, no smoking, and he’s not 65 years old or older.

Katie said that she had a logical and coherent conversation with Jonathan on the phone on the evening of March 29th, a couple of hours after they exchanged final texts.

He was intubated the next day. He wrote a note on his phone during the call to her. According to Katie, he stamped Jonathan’s note on time.

Katie’s husband dedicated a Facebook page to document Braedyn’s medical journey, capturing what was happening along the way.

Jonathan was admitted to the hospital, the nurses would contact Katie and occasionally use FaceTime to enable her to communicate with Jonathan, during the initial weeks.

She penned, “I’ve discovered myself revisiting memories in my mind to envision what Jonathan and my exchanges would entail for the day. Since I am acquainted with him so thoroughly, I can perceive his voice so vividly in my thoughts. It is my sole solace.”

And it’s incredibly painful, “I constantly have this thought in my mind that there will come a moment when I have spent more time without my spouse than I did with him,” she informed Cooper.

A shattered heart

Katie said she wanted to share with her husband what happened to her in the raw painting of hopes, as it cost her work and her life was going out of the picture of reality.

“She expressed that her spouse shouldn’t have passed away on Wednesday morning. However, he did.”

On April 22, Katie posted a video in memory of Jonathan, linking his obituary to a later update that stated he had passed hours ago.

I don’t know how we’re going, but I know this: Jonathan lives without us. Even though my heart is not shattered or broken, it’s still not whole. Katie wrote on Facebook that everything was stolen from us. The feeling we have is indescribable, and the pain is unbearable.

A fundraising campaign has been established to support The Coelho family.
