Everything is up in the air, or everything is decided, whether weakened or reinforced, it represents that coalition, whether it is a strength or a curse, it is their partisan inheritance if those dichotomies from their campaign have marked them. She did not hide as a PRI member, she presented herself as a whole and “said yes” to everything, she doubled down on the bet, anticipating times when many were jumping ship. “We are never stronger,” she replied, when her rivals claimed that the old hegemonic party was finished. “It’s time to work together,” she replied, when her adversaries from the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) and the National Action Party (PAN) put question marks on their decision to join forces. The label of the PRI was a burden for many in the past, words like “history” and “legacy” have been put on the table by Moral Del, from the beginning.

According to her account, her father told her “You have two options, to stay angry and remain there or start doing something.” And that’s how she explains her decision to fully enter politics. She shared this during the second electoral debate and in several interviews during the campaign. After being released six days later, following a ransom payment by her family, she became a victim of a kidnapping in Naucalpan. She was confined to a safe house in the eastern part of Mexico City, just after turning 18, a couple of years later. Ismael del Moral, her father, who is a doctor and a staunch PRI supporter (in her own words), began his involvement with the PRI when she was still a teenager at 16 years old. She followed in his footsteps and joined the PRI at a young age, becoming a candidate for the Va por México alliance.
Del Moral first ventured into the networks of young PRI members and from a young age, she immersed herself in grassroots work. She remembers her classes with her professors at the Faculty of Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana, alternating them with tours throughout the State and being active in Peña Nieto’s campaign for the governorship, where she was assigned the political operation of one of the districts. As a candidate for a local deputy position, she had her first election in 2006, but lost against the PAN. As the Director of International Relations for the State of Mexico in the Peña Nieto Administration, she became a key figure in her political trajectory after the defeat.
She ignored that accusations have been made against her rivals, accusing them of committing a real estate fraud worth 115 million pesos, for which the Mexiquense Front for Digna Vivienda was also pointed out. Luis Videgaray, then secretary of state finance, restructured the debt during his mandate. She became the youngest municipal president and the first female mayor in Mexico, turning Cuautitlán Izcalli, a municipality of 800,000 inhabitants, into a dormitory. She successfully recovered the Ayuntamiento de Cuautitlán Izcalli and had her revenge, recently graduating from university at the age of 25. Del Moral said, “We will rescue Izcalli from abandonment” and added, “We will not fall into provocations or engage in political ring fights.”

Eruviel Ávila’s Cabinet, in her role as Secretary of Labor, prior to her return to local politics for a year and a half in the national government as the director of the National Savings Bank and Financial Services (Bansefi, currently known as Banco del Bienestar) alongside Peña Nieto, who was already serving as president of the Republic at that time, after reuniting with him three years later. In 2012, she assumed the position of federal deputy. Following her appointment by Videgaray, then Secretary of Finance, she spent a year and a half in the national government before resuming her involvement in local politics.
State authorities in Mexico responded neither to the accusations nor to the thousands of pesos in irregular contracts signed by Eric Sevilla in his previous position. The Forbidden Stories organization shed light on a series of irregularities under the leadership of the State Secretary of Social Development, placing a spotlight on the actions taken by the organization. Despite a narrow margin of 170,000 votes, Alfredo del Mazo won the gubernatorial campaign with the support of the PRI’s State Directing Committee, of which Gómez was the president in early 2017.

The PRI member replied “I have caught up with you” in the last debate on May 18th, to the Morena candidate who reminded her “I beat you once before”. In that election, she suffered her second defeat against Gomez as a Senate candidate in 2018, although Del Mazo’s tight victory put her on the ballot again.
During the initial period of the Andrés Manuel López Obrador administration, Del Moral was assigned the responsibility of restoring the PRI’s organization as the state leader. In the 2021 elections, he successfully secured the position of local deputy for Cuautitlán Izcalli. While the party fell short of reclaiming the majority in the state Congress against Morena, it was only two seats away from being the most popular force. However, it significantly increased the number of local seats and emerged as the political group with the highest number of Municipalities, nearly doubling the municipal presidencies obtained by the president’s party.
Mariano Aguirre González, the PRI federal legislator, fathered children with her after many years of attempting to conceive with her spouse. One month later, she delivered twins. “There are upcoming initiatives on the horizon. At the appropriate moment, I will provide you with information regarding them. Presently, I can confidently state that the State of Mexico has even better things to come,” she penned in February of that particular year. She commenced laying the groundwork for the gubernatorial candidacy in the most recent elections, diligently working towards it since the beginning of 2022 utilizing these qualifications.

Sauri and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, former PRI leaders, recognized that she returned as a candidate by betting on territorial work. Various analysts have fueled suspicions that the marked absence of Del Mazo has also dealt with. He worked to close old gaps with the PRD and PAN, who were initially reluctant to replicate the alliance in the State of Mexico. Enrique Vargas Moral, a PAN member, worked to close old gaps and closed the door for the panista Enrique Vargas Moral as a requirement.
Durante la contienda, ese fue el momento más difícil para la candidata, asegura González, quien afirma que estuvo en estado crítico durante varios días.
She won already “that says her rival, while she insists on a “comeback”: the election is at a point where there has been a struggle over it. She apologized and expressed regret for attributing the meteorological conditions to the incident, and the Moral Del entity, in the east, has apologized to the approximately 3,000 people who attended a rally where a canvas fell due to strong winds and a woman died of a heart attack afterwards. That same story has been recognized by the president of the State Electoral Tribunal of Mexico, according to the media, and it has caused complaints from Morena before the electoral authority, unleashing controversy. We want to tell the majority of the PRI bases that we do not want to recognize this contested election and we want to call them out for their conduct, whether it’s good or bad, in order to make them aware of what they are doing.” The controversy was at the center of attention in April.

In his last message before the elections, he said, “We have come from far behind, but they underestimated us and are desperate.” It was a victory speech, the epilogue of an atypical contest, full of contradictions and very uphill. The party that has ruled for 94 years was also the one that made renewed promises of “change” and assumed the role of “opposition”. On the last day of her campaign, the candidate who gained strength in the territory dedicated herself to the media, which led to the cancellation of several events. And the last heiress of the PRI assured that “this project goes beyond the colors of the parties”, spoke of “unity” and “reconciliation”, and resigned herself to waiting for her destiny. Next Sunday will be the tricolor’s appointment with history.
