During “Monday Night Football,” NFL athletes, NBA athletes, and former professional sports players are demanding that Skip Bayless be terminated for remarks he expressed in the aftermath of Bills safety Damar Hamlin experiencing a heart attack on the playing field.
After the Bills-Bengals match was halted in Cincinnati, the host of “Undisputed” turned to Twitter to share their thoughts on the situation.
“While in Cincinnati, as the medical staff attended to Hamlin, Bayless posted on Twitter, “But how? – It seems like the rest of this game is contemplating postponing the NFL, undoubtedly.” “So insignificant” now appears to be significant in terms of the regular-season result, given the importance of this game, especially at this stage of the season.”
On Wednesday, Bayless said that Sharpe “seems” to be moving forward. Bayless appeared on Fox Sports’ morning show without Sharpe on Tuesday for a debate.
The Fox presenter retaliated against NFL players, which included Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant, resulting in instant criticism of Bayless’ tweet on Monday night.
Gardner tweeted, “Right now, absolutely nothing else!!! The only thing that is important is Damar Hamlin’s well-being! If the football game gets delayed, are you seriously discussing when it will happen?”
Meanwhile, Bryant posted several tweets criticizing Bayless.
“WE MUST TERMINATE @RealSkipBayless IMMEDIATELY!!!” Bryant wrote, including in another tweet, “[F-K] YOU SKIP BAYLESS.”
Additional professional athletes continued to express their dissatisfaction with Bayless’ tweet.
“I wish they terminate your employment, bro!!! It is extremely disheartening for you to even CONSIDER the game,” expressed Isaiah Thomas, a free agent NBA point guard, in reaction to Bayless.
ESPN NBA expert Kendrick Perkins penned, “You’re a disturbed individual. Honest discussion.”
“I hope you get FIRED!!”, Adding, said it is “the most abhorrent tweet ever,” Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens shared Bayless’ tweet on Instagram.
Former NBA champion Matt Barnes remarked on Owens’ post, expressing, “Someone is going to hit the crap out of skip one of these days.”
Damar Hamlin, the safety for the Bills, suffered a cardiac arrest during the “Monday Night Football” game against the Bengals. Stay tuned to the New York Post for live coverage and the most recent updates on his condition.
“The health of that young man holds utmost significance. That was the focal point of my recent tweet. I apologize if it was misconstrued, but his well-being is the only thing that truly counts. Once again, all other matters are insignificant. I offered my prayers for him and will persist in doing so.” Bayless subsequently expressed remorse in a separate tweet, stating on Monday evening.
Prior to his controversial tweet about postponing the game, Bayless did say that he said a prayer for Hamlin and his family.
I cannot recall a time when the game was halted for such a long duration. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered. An ambulance arrived on the field. The players from both teams are visibly affected. Bayless posted on Twitter during the distressing incident on Monday night, “I am not entirely certain about the details of what occurred to Damar Hamlin.” I simply offered a prayer for him and his family.

This was distinct for these players. ‘Hey, that’s soccer.’ The mindset was, the match consistently proceeded promptly in all other circumstances I observed or reported on. Never have I encountered a response like this, despite the numerous dreadful injuries endured on soccer fields I’ve witnessed.
According to the Bills, Hamlin, the second-year safety, was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by ambulance. He is currently sedated and in critical condition.
The 24-year-old Higgins Tee receiver initially appeared disoriented before falling back to the ground and getting up after being hit hard by Bengals’ tackle. The Bengals-Bills game was postponed after Hamlin collapsed on the field in the first quarter, following a hard tackle.
Prior to being transferred to the medical center, he underwent testing and received treatment for an underlying condition. Additionally, CPR was administered on the field following his collapse, and his heartbeat was successfully restored.
Jordon Rooney, the CEO of Jaster Athletes, a sports marketing agency and Hamlin’s marketing representative and friend, gave an update on Twitter on Monday evening.
Rooney penned, “Currently, they are conducting examinations. They have sedated him to insert a breathing tube into his throat, and [Hamlin’s] vital signs have returned to their regular state.”
The Medical Center at the University of Cincinnati did not expect to issue any statement on Tuesday morning.
On the latest episode of Fox’s “Undisputed,” Bayless expressed regret for discussing typical sports subjects while Hamlin’s life remained in danger.
Bayless stated, “to experiment with it, I determined after getting very little sleep. Today’s presentation demonstrates that I am capable of doing this, I’m confident in it. However, I must admit that I’m still exhausted. In reality, I’m still emotionally unsettled by the events that occurred last night involving Damar Hamlin, and I acknowledge this upfront.”
Talk about sports is something we always try to do without offending anyone. The last thing we want to do is to offend someone by trying to do what we always do. The situation this young man is going through is like a life-or-death situation. The last thing we want is to come off as insensitive to what this young man is going through. It is the last thing we want to do, even trying to do a show about it. We can’t win with this, because it feels like almost every thought in our minds is rustled through, just like tonight’s show, whether we even do it or not.
