We inquired with three of the latest restaurant owners in the area about their choice of “the Beach”. What is attracting these business owners to this quaint waterfront town with a population of slightly more than 2,000 individuals?

After several years of working in restaurants, the Vaughans wanted a new challenge. Megan had extensive experience with cheese and a desire to connect with artisanal cheesemakers. She found that Washington, D.C. Was an underserved region and began researching markets and communities in Southern Anne Arundel County, Lothian. The couple ultimately moved there, prioritizing quality schools for their baby girl and a commutable hunt for communities.
One Friday, they heard about the Farmers Market in North Beach and quickly surged through the snaking lines for their beloved artisanal cheeses. They opened a cheese booth at the market in 2019 and the town and event had a great demand for their products.
During the lockdown caused by the pandemic, the Vaughans sold cheese on the internet and searched for a physical store. North Beach provided them with the perfect location.
Tyler said, “Our relationship with the people is why we chose this location to sing.” They had originally intended to open a dine-in service with a retail shop. “The business snowballed from there,” and they also added wine to the menu. Cheese Vaughan opened on September 4, 2021.
The promenade was an added benefit. Another owner enticed by reputable educational institutions relocated the family to the Twin Beaches due to her former spouse’s profession. She initiated a blog called The Bakist and relinquished ownership of the small restaurant in 2017. Virago originated from Spokane, Washington, where she possessed Maple Street Bistro. The Bakist, also known as Dez Virago, inaugurated her establishment in North Beach in early 2021.
After five months, Bakist finally decided to purchase the rebranded store in January 2021. Eventually, the manager of the store became Sue’s Sweet, and she returned to work there as a full-time baker. She tried selling her baked goods and baking, and during one summer, she worked for Virago bakery on Bay Avenue.
“Anticipating the arrival of spring,” however, her objective is to relocate before summer. Virago has recently acquired the establishment that accommodates Chesapeake’s Bounty in close proximity and intends to enhance it by occupying a larger area, introducing indoor seating, commencing bread baking, and diversifying the menu.
Brian Yousefi, the owner of Sliders City café in North Beach, Georgetown, is a veteran restaurant professional who has spent ten years cooking and twenty years revamping government commissaries and restaurants. He jokingly asked, “What does Gordon Ramsay do on TV?”
Yousefi, who stumbled upon North Beach while visiting a friend, expressed, “I observed the petite village and believed it lacked a delightful eatery, and City Sliders would thrive in this location.”
We are delighted to support the community, and everything in our house is made with organic or natural ingredients. We want everyone to try everything on our menu, which is like a box of candy. “We are happy here, enjoying our cuisine,” said Yousefi.
The town brings accomplished restaurateurs, tourists, and residents who bring the charm of a small town and the popular farmers market, as well as good schools and boardwalks, which are the town’s assets. The attraction of North Beach turns out to be more mysterious than mundane.
Next door to Vine and Hook, I can head to the Soda club and order my favorite current cocktail, which is made with Captain Morgan rum, peach schnapps, and orange juice. Last week, a newly opened restaurant carried a wide variety of tiny sandwiches, including herb and garlic fries on the side, crispy onions with smoked house brisket beef, and BBQ sauce. Additionally, the joint also serves Mexican cuisine.
Feel like joining a live music session or playing a trivia game on the Head Wheel at Garden Beer House, where you can also order food delivered from neighboring restaurants and mixed drinks of beer or wine.

Somehow, North Beach has managed to welcome these unique dining experiences without commercializing the town, fitting right in with the landscape that sits adjacent to the bay.
