With a group of masked armed individuals positioned behind him, ‘El Cholo,’ a Guadalajara native from Jalisco, confidently stated his name as Carlos Enrique Sánchez Martínez, while being handcuffed. He was a former prominent member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
He continued, “He told me that he was able to come here to the city with all his people to support me. He provided me with support. Since we are both against CJNG, he said he could give me support by meeting with Harfuch García Omar in Mexico City (Federal District).”
A few hours after the video was released, Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, the body of Sánchez was discovered just a few steps away from the city hall building. His body was wrapped from head to toe, and two knives were inserted into his chest and leg.
The Office of the Attorney General of Jalisco confirmed the content of the video later in the evening.

In the video, Sánchez claimed that García Harfuch had directed him to incite numerous criminal events in the region of Jalisco.
The authorities in Zapopan, Tlajomulco, Tlaquepaque, and Tonalá cities of Jalisco were notified about multiple mass graves where he was forced to abandon the corpses.
No deaths or harm were reported in the incident. Sánchez additionally claimed responsibility for a grenade assault on the United States Embassy in Guadalajara in December 2018.
García Harfuch, who sustained injuries during an unsuccessful assassination endeavor orchestrated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in June 2020 in Mexico City, refuted the accusations put forth by Sánchez.
He stated, ‘I have a strong dedication to society, battling against criminal activity until the very end.’ ‘Concerning a video where a delinquent captured by fellow lawbreakers expressed his opinions about me, I emphasize that deceptive statements from wrongdoers will not divert our attention.’
