Celine Dion’s sister shares major update about singer’s voice amid health battle

Celine Dion’s fans are eagerly awaiting updates about her health as she continues to battle Stiff Person Syndrome privately at home in Las Vegas.

Claudette, the sister of Celine, has now given a fresh perspective into the health of the singer, revealing that she was forced to indefinitely postpone her world tour Courage after being diagnosed with a rare muscle spasm condition, thankfully still singing and with her voice as angelic as ever.

In a recent interview with 7Jours Canada, Claudette declared, “Those who claim to be my sister’s voice are wrong, they are wrong.” I have heard her sing several notes over the phone, and her voice is still the same. It made me feel reassured and happy to hear it.

We are sending all our love to our little sister, as she is capable of overcoming this challenging situation and is confident, just like me.

Celine, who the journalist met at an event in Quebec last month, informed them that she is doing as best as she possibly can. Additionally, she mentioned other details.

My little sister is incredibly strong and capable, and I have full confidence in her ability to perform well in the medical team. Although she faces challenges and is surrounded by a large team of specialists, we are aware that treating her illness is particularly difficult.

Claudette recently had a conversation with HELLO! Canada and provided additional understanding into what Celine is going through on a daily basis.

It is impossible to control the spasms that are there. “Reflecting on the symptoms linked to the syndrome,” Claudette said, we know very little about this illness.

She expresses her dismay, saying, “There’s little we can do to alleviate her pain and provide support.” She continues, “Do you know people who often jump up in the night due to a cramp in their calf or leg, like a small bit of muscle ache?”

I suppose I just have to follow the regimen prescribed by my doctors and hope to be in good health. I was really hoping to go on the world tour of Courage with her, but now Celine had to cancel her shows in Las Vegas before canceling her North American leg of the tour in late 2021 for the same reason.

In December 2022, Celine disclosed that she was encountering spasms impacting “every facet of my everyday life” in a heartfelt video on social platforms, divulging the surprising announcement of her formal diagnosis.

The vocal powerhouse also disclosed that the disorder was preventing me from utilizing my vocal cords to sing in the manner I am accustomed to.

Backed by her sibling Linda, Celine – who is a dedicated parent to her boys René-Charles, 22, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 12, whose biological parent is her deceased spouse René Angélil – has been maintaining a low profile in her residence in Las Vegas ever since.
