Chris Christie says he’s ‘struggled with my weight for 20 years’ after Trump’s ‘all-you-can-eat buffet’ taunt

Chris Christie, the politician from New Jersey, discussed his lengthy struggle with his weight following former President Donald Trump’s mockery of his size.

At a buffet where you can eat as much as you want, Christie, who began his presidential campaign in New Hampshire on Tuesday, stated that Trump was behaving like a “child” by sharing a manipulated video that claimed to depict Christie making the declaration.

Christie wrote, “I have struggled with my weight for 20 years… Breaking news.” “I haven’t struggled with my character. I will stand up against Donald Trump any day. If he’s lost his fastball, then he’s got his best. That’s the case.”

Christie also likened Trump to “an entitled infant” who wasted a chance to improve the nation.

Christie remarked, “When an indulged infant misbehaves, you ought to send them to their room, not the White House.” “At his advanced age, it is high time to abandon any hope of Trump maturing. What we truly require is a leader, not a child.”

Christie said Trump was acting like a "child" by posting a doctored video that purported to show the former New Jersey governor making his 2024 announcement at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Trump derided Christie’s frequent allusions to the “decision between minor and major” that voters confront in 2024 in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.

“How many times did Chris Christie use the word TINY? Does he have a psychological issue with MAGNITUDE?” Trump wrote.

The candidate stood in front of a buffet bar while holding a tray of food, as captured by two social media users in the edited video of Christie’s campaign launch.

Christie said on CNN’s Jake Tapper, speaking on Wednesday, that Trump lashes out like a juvenile and cannot take criticism.

“Every time you want to criticize him, in any manner, that is the way he reacts,” Christie stated.

During his campaign kickoff at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. On Tuesday, Christie hinted at Trump by emphasizing his weaknesses.

Christie said, “Beware of a leader who won’t admit any of those shortcomings, because you know what the problem is with a leader like that – residing in America’s greatness, looking at his mirror, a leader like that.”

Beware of the leader, for they are not a self-serving hog but rather a lonely and self-consumed mirror. They will not be able to find anyone to serve them, and as a result, you will not only not serve as their leader, but also be cautious.

Trump is someone who always finds a reason to take credit for anything that goes right, but he will always find someone else to blame for whatever goes wrong and never admits fault. I am talking about a person who is obsessed with the mirror and never admits a mistake. Let me be clear, I have not already been the case, well” said Christie, referencing the former president, he was to erase any doubt.

In the New Hampshire primary, Christie, who is beginning his second campaign for the presidency, backed Trump in 2016 after withdrawing from the competition following a sixth-place ranking.

He became an adviser to the former president ahead of the 2020 election, with claims of election theft breaking before the election.

The former governor, who is currently 60 years of age and has completed two terms, has since transformed into a outspoken critic of the former commander-in-chief, who is 76 years old.
