Colorado election results: Lauren Boebert wins re-election by 546 votes, recount confirms

Freedom Caucus firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo, has won her bid for re-election against Democrat Adam Frisch, an automatic recount confirmed Monday.

The race was decided by 546 votes, fitting a pattern in the 2022 midterm elections where swing districts lost or had closer margins than expected, especially among former supporters of President Trump.

On Monday evening, Secretary of State Jena Griswold revealed the outcome. During the recount, Frisch accumulated a combined sum of four votes, which was insufficient to close the gap and surpass Boebert’s advantage. Frisch, who serves as an Aspen City Councilman, had previously admitted defeat in the election last month when the initial count placed him slightly below the state’s threshold for an obligatory recount.

In the lead-up to the November 8 election, Boebert announced on Twitter, “The red wave has started!” However, as the outcomes were revealed, it became evident that it would be more of a red trickle. Throughout the night, Boebert trailed behind her opponent, Frisch, despite the GOP being expected to win Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. Fox News’ Power Rankings had categorized the race as “likely Republican” as of November 1.

Unexpectedly, Kyrsten Sinema, an independent, managed to snatch away the majority 51-seat Senate would-be Party’s Democratic register and switch to decision. However, while the Democrats gained a seat in the Senate, the GOP emerged with a razor-thin majority of 222 seats in the House. When all was said and done, Republicans said they had hoped to win their frustrating effort to recapture the majority in both the Senate and the House, but they lost several key races.

After the counties in her district finished their recounts, Boebert stated on Sunday, “Republicans have been given the responsibility of the majority, and now we must demonstrate that we can decrease the intensity in DC by leading not only with power but also elegance.”

She posted on Twitter, “Every American has the opportunity to live our best life, and conservative policies will assist us in overcoming the challenges we encounter.”

Representative Turner has indicated that the GOP is indicating investigations and possible subpoenas regarding the origin of COVID and monitoring domestic extremism.

He described himself as a moderate Frisch and ran a campaign that criticized Boebert for “tweeting nonsense and lies” instead of focusing on legislative progress. He referred to her as an “angertainment” and criticized her as a party leader, stating that he would not support Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House. He described himself as a nonpartisan problem-solver.

Boebert’s time in Congress has been characterized by controversial statements and attention-grabbing fashion choices, which have gained national media coverage due to her enthusiastic support for former President Trump – the first woman to be elected in 2020.

Moderate Republicans, including her adversaries and critics such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., And Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Have been incited by her Twitter account, and she has openly clashed with progressive legislators, including members of the “Squad”.

Boebert, one of the 147 GOP lawmakers, openly supported Trump’s unproven claims that the 2020 presidential election was illegitimate, and voted against certifying the results.

If they “begin behaving as Democrats,” the sole manner in which Republicans could experience defeat in the 2022 midterms, Boebert wholeheartedly embraced the disparaging Democratic allegation of being an “Ultra MAGA” Republican, a steadfast Trump advocate.
