Comedian John Pinette Dead at 50

Larry Schapiro, John Pinette’s manager, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the stand-up comedian, who was 50 years old and had appeared in the Seinfeld finale, has passed away.

THR reported that a representative for the coroner’s office in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, concluded that he passed away on Saturday due to natural reasons and was discovered in a hotel room in Pittsburgh. Schapiro mentioned that a blood clot in the lungs was the reason for his death.

Throughout various locations in the United States and Canada, the comic was presently embarking on a live journey that had predetermined dates spanning from April to June. Hailing from Boston in the year 1964, he was a consistent fixture on the touring circuit.

He was also a staple at Canada’s Just for Laughs festival. He hosted a comedy cooking show called Eat Can You All, which aired in September. He also starred in several specials, including Starvin’ I’m (2006) and Hungry Still (2011). Pinette’s film credits include roles in The Godfather Last (2010), The Punisher (2004), and Junior (1994).

The comedian also portrayed Edna Turnblad in a nationwide touring performance of Hairspray in 2004.

I recently viewed the last episode of Seinfeld in 1998, where Elaine, Jerry, George, and Kramer made jokes. In this episode, a man who had his car stolen and was robbed played the role of a comic. He also appeared in the television series High Tide, Can’t Lose, and Lewis Parker, Bobby & Vinnie.

Fellow comics and notable figures in the entertainment industry paid homage to Pinette on Sunday.

John Pinette has sadly passed. He gave me some of the simplest, best advice I’ve ever received. “The jokes are good, just put ’em together.”
