DeSantis unhurt in a car accident in Tennessee while traveling to presidential campaign events

Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, was involved in a multi-car accident in Tennessee on Tuesday but was uninjured as he traveled in a motorcade to stop his 2024 presidential campaign.

The police said that all the vehicles involved in the crash were government vehicles. The crash happened on Interstate 75 in Chattanooga, causing four cars to be involved in a chain reaction crash. This happened before 8:15 a.M, when DeSantis and his team were scheduled to attend the event. The crash caused traffic to slow down.

According to the Chattanooga police, the Florida authorities safeguarding the governor and Bryan Griffin, the spokesperson for the DeSantis campaign, the Republican candidate for the White House, remained unharmed. DeSantis proceeded with the campaign gathering. The police stated that a female staff member, who sustained a slight injury in the collision, received medical attention at the event.

One of the agents from the Department of Law Enforcement’s Law Enforcement’s Department of Florida, who was driving the governor’s vehicle, said, “All immediate family members of the governor have been cleared with no significant injuries. It is required by law in Florida to provide security for the governor, and that is why agents from the Department of Law Enforcement’s Law Enforcement’s Department of Florida and the governor’s staff are present.”

The campaign did not provide additional information regarding the incident, DeSantis’ representatives. The campaign redirected inquiries regarding the incident to the campaign, a spokesperson for the Florida governor’s office.

During his campaign, DeSantis had planned to organize gatherings across central and eastern Tennessee as he places importance on Super Tuesday states. On March 5th next year, Super Tuesday will take place, offering the highest number of delegates to be contested in any day during the primary cycle.

Earlier this month, DeSantis spoke to over 1,800 participants at a state GOP dinner in Nashville.

As per the report from the Chattanooga Times Free Press, additional participants were being charged $2,000 apiece, co-hosts were required to pay $5,000, and the hosts of the fundraising event were supposed to contribute $10,000 per couple. The governor of Florida, who has been behind the leading candidate, Donald Trump, in the Republican presidential race, was anticipated to attend a fundraising event at a private residence in Chattanooga on Tuesday.

DeSantis was anticipated to participate in extra fundraising events on Tuesday in Knoxville and Franklin.

He attended fundraisers in Utah over the weekend, while being in New York for the Hamptons event last week. Recently, his campaign has encountered unexpected financial strains due to his continuous participation in a series of fundraising events as the Republican nominee.

ANALYSIS: Why are there fewer women in the 2024 Republican presidential lineup?

In order to secure the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination, DeSantis will have to overcome Trump, who is the only person standing in his way. Despite facing new inquiries about his aggressive spending and media strategy, DeSantis has already taken steps to reduce his staff, just two months after entering the race.

Republican strategist Terry Sullivan, who oversaw Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign, expressed, “The DeSantis campaign is readjusting. It’s evident that it should. However, ultimately, they are still in a more advantageous position compared to any other opponent of Donald Trump, multiplied by ten.”

Each subsequent legal obstacle appears to be gaining momentum in relation to Trump’s support among Republican primary voters. His competitors face significant obstacles in gaining attention, as this unfolds within the U.S. Judicial system at the same time as the GOP primary becomes more intense. However, these burdens may eventually wear down voters who grow weary of Trump’s increasing legal issues and personal baggage. DeSantis’ team has silently expressed optimism about this for months.

Up to this point, DeSantis’ campaign has successfully secured an impressive $150 million for his aspirations to become president. A super PAC managed by supporters who are prohibited from legally collaborating with the campaign has obtained the overwhelming majority, amounting to $130 million.

The recently released federal filings revealed that in his first six weeks in the race, DeSantis had burned through more than $8 million in spree spending, surpassing the $20 million his campaign had raised. This spending spree included a large security detail and more than 100 paid staffers.
