According to the Raleigh Police Department, an accident occurred during the 78th annual Christmas parade at approximately 10:14 a.M. As reported by WTVD Raleigh.
According to WTVD, the driver of the GMC Denali truck, while pulling one of the two CC & Company floats, was honking his horn and shouting at individuals to clear the path. As per the television station’s report, the driver, who was later identified as Glass, claimed to have lost control of the vehicle and accidentally struck the child while traveling at a slow speed.
Melissa Stephens, who was present at the parade, observed the street bustling with activity. The parade was rolling down the street in a lively manner. They were using gas to propel themselves forward, creating an exciting atmosphere. I saw them speeding down the street with great enthusiasm. Can you tell me what type of gas they were using? It was a thrilling sight to witness them swiftly approaching. They seemed to be in a state of panic. Can you describe how people were trying to find a way out, with some individuals yelling and others appearing distressed?
According to WTVD, no other individuals in the parade were harmed. The parade was called off following the occurrence.
As per the newspaper, the truck that lost control was the one pulling the second float. The News & Observer stated that performers from the company entertained the audience, as CC & Company had two floats in the parade.
Olivia Bruce, a 14-year-old dancer from the troupe, recounted to the News & Observer, “As we looked away, we noticed the truck approaching dangerously close from behind, but when we turned back, we were startled by a sudden wave of honking. That’s when we spontaneously broke into dance during the parade.”
Someone laid out on the ground and then stopped it, while the truck just kept going faster. It was pretty to me. I also almost got hit – I moved out in seconds.
This year, it remains uncertain which role he is associated with in the company. WRAL stated that entries on Glass’ Instagram profile displayed his involvement in dance contests representing CC & Company.
The authorities were examining the truck after the occurrence but have not disclosed any details, as reported by the News & Observer.
