The First Lady, Jill Biden, appeared in the stands at Financial Field in Lincoln on January 29th to watch the Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers and secure their place in the Super Bowl, where they will face the Kansas City Chiefs for the NFC crown.
She previously claimed to have grown up in Philadelphia, and in interviews, she made a reference to the song sung by fans of the team, “Fly Eagles Fly,” with a tweet featuring a caption that included her grandson, Hunter Robert Biden.
However, a video that has resurfaced once more on the internet appears to portray a hostile reception towards the initial lady at an Eagles match.
The Claim.
The tweet from the Citizen Free Press, written on Sunday, has been viewed over 35,000 times since then. Fans at today’s Eagles game immediately began chanting and booing when Biden and Jill appeared on the jumbotron, with some chanting “Let’s Go Brandon.”
In the video, Biden appears on the field singing a rendition of “Fly Eagles Fly,” which is being drowned out by booing.
In the upper section of the stadium, the president shows footage of a woman chanting “Brandon, let’s go,” intending to mock the conservative catchphrase. The crowd in that section jeers even louder, and then the footage cuts to mobile phone recordings.
The Facts.
The first lady is wearing a black Eagles t-shirt in her tweet, paired with a black blazer. In the video, she is seen wearing a gray t-shirt under a black blazer.
According to official footage, the national anthem at the beginning of the game was performed by Anita Baker, and following the Eagles’ victory in the NFC title with a score of 31-7, “Fly Eagles Fly” was led by Jalen Hurts, a quarterback for the team.
Several social media users have pointed out that the video is misleading, as it was found to be published when it was first released three months ago.
Seated in a box next to NFC commissioner Roger Goodell, Biden did not make a crucial appearance on the field during the recent game.
Against the Dallas Cowboys, Biden attending an Eagles game surfaced on October 17, one that is a carbon copy of the video.
As part of the Biden administration’s Cancer Moonshot campaign, which aims to reduce cancer deaths by at least 50 percent over the next 25 years, she took part in a rendition of “Fly Eagles Fly” during the game, alongside cancer survivors and their families as a way to raise awareness.
The video garnered attention from NFL celebrities and sports journalists, eliciting a significantly more extensive response on social media and within conservative media during that period.
How prevalent was the disdain and how unclear was it, although there were some sections of the crowd in October that booed when the lady appeared on the show, as seen in other footage.
The source of the dissatisfaction was those in proximity to them, as it was the video captured from the bleachers that may have exaggerated the magnitude of the jeering.
Dan Evon, a former writer at the fact-checking website Snopes, observed that the segment of the video where the crowd’s boos appear to be louder than Biden’s singing on the stage seems to have been edited, with an alternate audio track superimposed onto the visual clip.
Brian McCarthy, Vice President of Communications for the NFL, later informed Reuters that the official NFL post showcased unaltered audio and video recorded by the NFL social team. In the initial footage shared on Twitter by the NFL, the primary auditory elements consist of music and singing, with no audible expressions of disapproval.
The Ruling.
False.
She was booed at the game in October 2022, indicating just how much the crowd questioned it. Surprisingly, Biden was not widely booed at the game.
The footage that was reposted on Twitter, claiming to originate from a match three months ago, may have been edited to emphasize the booing of the crowd.
There is no evidence in the video indicating that Jill Biden was booed by a few individuals in the crowd on Sunday, although it cannot be completely dismissed.
