Godless recounts the tale of a small town governed by women, facing challenges in their attempt to progress following a tragic mining incident that claimed the lives of the majority of the male population. Simultaneously, a group of criminals is on the verge of confronting their ultimate fate within the vicinity of this town, known as La Belle.
However, where can La Belle be found? Godless was shot in various locations and scenery in the northern region of New Mexico.
This limited series was originally planned to be a two-hour film. There is no doubt that extending the original script to a seven-episode series was a great chance to expertly unravel the intriguing plot and its characters.
Here is our guide without revealing any spoilers to the shooting sites of this fantastic Western film.
The filming took place at the sound stages of Santa Fe Studios.
Inspired by real mining disasters, the fictional town of La Belle was built at San Cristobal Ranch, a few miles south of Santa Fe.

As reported by the Albuquerque Journal, the film crew constructed the biggest Western movie set ever seen in New Mexico.
The collection consisted of 28 structures and necessitated the efforts of 130 individuals for a period of twelve and a half weeks.

Alice Fletcher’s ranch was also built on the grounds of San Cristobal Ranch.
The initial sequence of the slaughter in Creed was captured in close proximity to that area. The cursed village acted as a setting for film director Tom Ford’s extensive ranch in Galisteo.
The 1985 movie Silverado saw the construction of a Western town on the expansive 20,000 acres of the Cerro Pelon Ranch, which is also referred to as Cooks Ranch.

The town scenes of Olagrande were recorded in Galisteo. Additional filming occurred at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, the identical setting showcased in the film News of the World starring Tom Hanks.

A Native American camp was captured on film near the Chama River in Abiquiu.

Additional locations that are included are El Rancho de las Golondrinas (depicted in the picture), a site known as Cherry Meadow close to the town of Pecos, and Santa Clara Pueblo, which was utilized for filming river scenes.
