This is actually a notorious and gruesome photograph. The photograph shows the President’s head exploding after being hit by a bullet, captured in frame number 313 of Zapruder’s footage. Fim Zapruder became famous later on for shooting a film, but he initially didn’t plan on carrying his camera due to his assistant’s insistence. However, he decided to go to Dealey Plaza to see the President’s motorcade. Zapruder was an admirer of JFK and a Democrat. He had no slightest suspicion that he would witness the dying President through his camera. The Zapruder film contains 486 frames, showing the President’s limousine for 18.7 seconds (343 frames).
