    The journalist was born on July 4th, 1943 in New York City, specifically in Brooklyn. His parents are Allen Cruz Rivera, who is Puerto Rican, and Lillian Friedman, who is of Jewish Russian descent. While his mother worked in a restaurant, his father worked as a cab driver.

    He was raised in various parts of West Babylon and Brooklyn, including different areas of New York City. Sharon Rivera, Craig Rivera, Wilfredo Rivera, and Irene Rivera are his siblings. The attorney is the second child born in a family of five children.

    He transferred to the University of Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Between 1961 and 1963, he enrolled at the State University of New York Maritime College, where he participated in rowing. After completing his elementary studies, he attended West Babylon High School.

    Frank Harlem and Hogan, the crime-fighting duo, worked as interns under the District Attorney of New York County. While in law school, Frank took on a series of odd jobs, ranging from a short-order cook to a clothing salesman. Immediately after obtaining his first degree, he started working as a journalist.

    At the beginning of his career, this private practice attorney became a frequent attorney for the Young Lords, a Puerto Rican activist group. As a result, he also worked as an attorney for the National Lawyers Guild and Community Legal Services Action, among other organizations based in Manhattan’s lower area.
