During the early seasons of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney fall in love, making it a great romance in the world of celebrity.
Finally, Olson and McElhenney have arrived, but the sitcom on FXX took 16 record-breaking seasons and having two kids. When unfounded rumors start popping up about the sordid unraveling of a marriage due to infidelity, it’s a true sign of the making of Hollywood.
According to an unidentified source disclosed by DeuxMoi, a celebrity gossip website that shares rumors and speculation rather than factual information, McElhenney co-owns the Wrexham AFC football club in Wales with Ryan Reynolds. It is alleged that McElhenney’s infidelity with another person led to his and Olson’s discreet separation. This week, Perez Hilton, a gossip website, referenced DeuxMoi’s newsletter.
Despite being untrue, the gossip began to circulate extensively on the internet. Olson and McElhenney opted to have some amusement with it.
“Unfortunately conceding the veracity of the rumor,” McElhenney tweeted. “Nonetheless, certain particulars are….Inaccurate.”
“Something indicates to me they are not done… More to this narrative I’m sure,” @WrexhamUSA replied, embracing the oceanic creature concept.
In 2006, amidst the second season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” McElhenney and Olson commenced their romantic relationship. They have been happily wedded for a period of 15 years.
The individuals who brought forth and composed the television series were hesitant to introduce a romantic storyline at first due to concerns about potentially taking advantage of a power imbalance. However, McElhenney has expressed that he believed Olson was on a completely different level from him.
Olson, who plays Dee Sweet in the series, was courted by McElhenney into embodying assertiveness rather than being portrayed as vulgar and ridiculous like the rest of the Gang, thus translating her character’s “voice” in the show.
“She chased after me like a wild feline,” McElhenney expressed on an episode of “The Always Sunny Podcast” in February.
During a previous appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, Olson and McElhenney revealed the secret relationship they kept for two seasons of the show, according to Shepard Dax.
Olson said, “You don’t know that I have no idea that you are completely in love with me, oh, it was just like that. It wasn’t even a game. I wanted this person who is completely in love with me to be casual but he had this hubristic confidence. We secretly started dating and now you’re calling me and spending Saturday night with me and seeing me every Friday night and wanting to go on a casual date with me on Monday morning.”
We now know that Olson is an animorph, constantly shifting states due to her inherent ability to attract injured whales, jungle cats, and birds.
