Here is Why One Armpit Smells Worse Than The Other

YOU MAY NOT BE CARING FOR BOTH SIDES OF YOUR BODY EQUALLY

In order to prevent unpleasant smells, it is necessary to cleanse your underarms, use deodorant, and shave simultaneously. Imbalance in odor intensity between the two sides is responsible for this. Although you may have a preference for one side, it is important to remember that when you shower or apply deodorant, it should be done for both sides. Failure to do so can unintentionally result in poor hygiene, considering the fact that you may tend to favor one side.

NO TWO SIDES OF YOUR BODY ARE IDENTICAL

Recently, I listened to an interesting Ted Talk that discussed how most human bodies are asymmetrical and the main cause of odors is bacteria. I found it hard to believe that one armpit can produce more bacteria than the other, which proved to be the finding of a study I came across.

THE TAKEAWAY

It’s a strange phenomenon, but the underarm bar can help manage unwanted odor on a daily basis. Along with maintaining good hygiene, implementing these simple lifestyle changes can address the asymmetry in body odor, which is why the armpit smells more than usual.

HOW DO I PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING?

It can definitely be strange to find that only one armpit is producing odor, especially when most people wash both armpits at the same time. Making small lifestyle changes can help stop this common occurrence from happening, and prevent the armpit with the worse smell from happening.

REMOVE YOUR ARMPIT HAIR:

If you prefer to have some hair in that region, it is recommended to trim it and apply the soap underneath your underarms for 20-30 seconds. This is because having hair in the area increases the chances of sweat and bacteria getting trapped in the armpit hair.

WASH YOUR ARMPITS THOROUGHLY:

It seems that many people don’t realize that they aren’t properly washing their underarms, but it’s important to make sure your underarms are 100% clean in order to effectively kill the odor-causing bacteria that I created in my underarm. To do this, I apply a generous amount of charcoal deodorant to my armpits and then wash it off with the soap bar, massaging my underarms for 20-30 seconds. Additionally, in order to ensure that your underarms are clean, you may need to use a naturally antibacterial soap that contains apple cider vinegar and sea salt as ingredients, which will kill the bacteria that cause odor.

REFRESH AFTER PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

It is better to take a full shower while wiping your underarms with a wet towel after exercising, as it can help reduce the amount of bacteria left behind.

WATCH WHAT YOU WEAR:

CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES ON A DAILY BASIS:

The best thing you can do is change your clothes on a daily basis so that you can avoid accumulating bacteria throughout the day.

As the founder of my team’s brand of deodorant, I often engage in discussions about our own bodily ailments. This is why I want to discuss some possible reasons why armpits may smell worse than others and why this experience can sometimes be worse at different levels. One thing that came up is how sometimes one armpit can have a worse smell than the other.

WE DON’T USE BOTH SIDES OF OUR BODIES EQUALLY

The odor from your armpit on the left side is stronger than the smell on the right side. This pungent odor contains compounds called Thioalcohols, which are released by Organosulfur molecules and result in increased sweat production. If you are right-handed, it is likely that you will produce more sweat on the right side. Our natural tendency is to use the dominant side, so increased bacterial activity and increased sweat production may occur on that side. The existence of the left-handed or right-handed dichotomy has been present since we were born.
