The 1988A series 20 dollar bill was printed March 1990 through March 1992 at the BEP’s Eastern Currency Facility at Washington DC.
The $20 Federal Reserve Note has undergone significant changes over the years since the initial production of the small-sized FRN.
On display is a painting of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, located at the center.
The message was produced for the 12th region, or San Francisco, which is denoted as ‘L’ in this instance. Directly beneath this is the jurisdiction of the Federal Reserve Banking district. The responsibility statement, which states ‘THIS NOTE IS ACCEPTABLE CURRENCY FOR ANY FINANCIAL OBLIGATION, WHETHER GOVERNMENTAL OR PERSONAL’, is positioned to the left of this.
Catalina Villalpando Vásquez is the Treasurer of the United States, and her signature is once again located below. The serial number is C L40069082, which can be found underneath.
Written on it is the term TWENTY. Beneath it, the Department of the Treasury’s green emblem features the serial number once more, alongside the portrait on the right-hand side.
Underneath this is Series 1988A and the autograph of the Secretary of the Treasury Nicholas F Brady.

The Truman Balcony, like other building renovations, has been updated since it was first used in 1948. The image on the reverse of the 1988 $20 bill still depicts the same White House.
You may also observe that in the breeze, the flag is not completely stretched out and the trees are bigger compared to the ones depicted on the opposite side of the 1934 $20 bill.

Star bills are printed to replace regular notes that got damaged during printing because there are usually less of them and they are more valuable.
You can distinguish a star bill from a regular bill because it has a * following the serial number.
In 1988, a replacement star uncirculated An bill worth $20 is the bill for CU GEM at $105, Choice at $100, Unc Crisp at $75, Unc About an for $55, Fine Extra an for $50, and Fine Very a for $30.
1988 20 Dollar Bill Error Notes
The 1988 twenty dollar notes are considered to be the most valuable and unique due to their rare serial numbers or special error notes.
For example, a high quality GEM NEW 65PPQ $20 note with the serial number G00000001B sold at auction January 2012 for $6,900.
Another memo with a misaligned printing mistake sold for $2,990 during that same year.
