The first film made in 1989 starred Patrick Swayze as a bouncer at a roadside bar, who goes to war with an evil businessman.
However, the UFC desired to be part of the excitement. Moreover, the upcoming 2023 edition aims to transform the narrative by featuring a ex-UFC athlete, portrayed by Gyllenhaal, in the lead role of the movie.
Fans were left stunned as Jake Gyllenhaal, who portrays Dalton Elwood, a middleweight champion in the fictional title bout against Harris Jax, absolutely shredded the competition with his cutting performance as a Hollywood star.
The 42-year-old amazed MMA enthusiasts once more as he entered the octagon at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on Sunday (AEDT) to shoot another scene.
Before proceeding to secure a vicious knockout over his opponent, Gyllenhall was seen walking out to the ring, fully pumped-up.
He was facing off against Jay Hieron, who portrays Harris in the fictional middleweight fight.
Gyllenhaal won the faux fight, absorbing a couple of blows before launching into Hieron with an uppercut and a flying knee kick.
He even completed the task with additional blows, shoving aside the referee who attempted to intervene and halt the altercation.
The scene also included renowned UFC announcer Bruce Buffer and MMA referee Chris Tognoni.
Previously at the weigh-in location, Gyllenhaal and his co-actor Hieron confronted each other, and it concluded with the celebrity striking his adversary.
Dalton, portraying Gyllenhaal, expressed to commentator Jon Anik: “I cannot fathom that I dedicated six weeks to prepare for this situation, to combat this individual. Please present me with the championship belt immediately. Come on, my dear adversary, let us proceed.”
Gyllenhaal was not the sole individual to crash the UFC weigh-in, as Conor McGregor also grabbed the microphone on stage.
“Who is prepared for tomorrow evening?” McGregor initiated.
In this arena, everyone is excited about the movie I am a part of. We are going to have the biggest fight in UFC history, Dalton vs. Harris, at House Road.
McGregor will appear in Road House and is thought to be the primary henchman of the movie’s main antagonist.
However, during McGregor’s presence, it was the muscular Hollywood actor who captured the attention.
In the real action at UFC 285, returning legend Jon Jones is taking on Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight belt.
