During the last episode of Carpool Karaoke, James Corden appeared to address backlash he has received over the course of the series.
The final episode of the popular segment Carpool Karaoke, featuring the British comedian, actor, and television host, took place on Monday (April 24). In this episode, Adele joined him as they drove around and sang along to a number of her songs.
They have recently faced hardships and tearfully discussed them. Both Adele and Corden saw and took part in the emotional conversation, which took a more usual turn than usual, before the end of The Late Late Show held just a few days before (April 27).
Simon Koncheki, the husband of Adele, divorced her shortly after their vacation in January 2020. Adele mentioned in a segment on Corden’s show that her song “Wine Drink I” was inspired by the experiences she had during that trip.
She explained, “You used to humor with it as well… After looking at me, you and Jules were an integral part of the kids’ lives.”
In relation to his conduct, Corden alluded to the recent conflict and disclosed his personal interpretation of the significance of the song at this juncture.

Adele told me that she remembered me saying, “I remember what you said to me, that you seem down ‘home, way on the.” We were having a conversation for about six hours, discussing the trip and towards the end of it, Adele opened up to me and said, “Just let it all out, what’s going on with you?”.
The actor explained that “work matters”, along with “the online world, and all those elements.”, Contributed to his downcast state during that period.
She added, “I felt unsafe with you feeling unsafe”. “A couple of weeks later, I went to the studio and wrote ‘I Drink Wine’ and sent it to you. I remember singing it into my phone. And I remember exactly how I was feeling when I said, ‘That’s what I’m saying to you and you remember it’.”
In that manner, he regarded it as a “benefit” to have her communicate his sentiments, and the actor from Gavin & Stacey admitted that the heartfelt song represented “all” of his emotions during that period.
He told her, getting emotional, “I was floored by how you managed to take everything I was feeling about myself and put it just in a ‘verse,’ the greatest privilege of a conversation between two friends like that.”

Although the comedian didn’t explicitly mention any specific moments that led to this low point, it may relate to a series of controversies he has faced in recent years.
In the span of 25 years, the individual with the most disrespectful demeanor towards employees was Corden, who had reprimanded staff members on various occasions. McNally, the proprietor of Balthazar, utilized Instagram to elucidate how Corden had temporarily been prohibited from a New York eatery because of his “abusive” conduct towards the staff in October 2022.
The host was accused of plagiarizing jokes from both Noel Fielding and Ricky Gervais. It was alleged that he copied a gag from one of Fielding’s stand-up shows in 2010, which was mentioned in the former case. Similarly, he was singled out in the latter case for having a joke that was almost identical to one in Gervais’s 2018 Netflix special, Humanity.
While on set, Mel B openly referred to Corden as one of the “most unpleasant celebrities” she has encountered, and mentioned his purported mistreatment of staff members back in December, when she was still a member of the Spice Girls.
Yesterday marked the final episode ever of the Late Late Show chat with guests Ferrell Will and Styles Harry.
