In May or June 2020, Washington purportedly assaulted the 12-year-old after she departed from a birthday celebration to engage in swimming at an apartment complex in Livingston Parish. Documents acquired by WBRZ indicate that Washington was 15 years old during that period.
The young woman reported to the authorities that in an apartment, Washington forcibly took away her towel and subjected her to a sexual assault for approximately thirty minutes.
The individual observed Washington enter a chamber with the individual and informed authorities that she witnessed Washington entering a chamber with the individual. The investigation reached a standstill until an informant stepped forward on Friday and Washington refuted the accusations. The twelve-year-old was transported to the hospital.
The arrest report indicates that the accused entered the victim’s bedroom, however, she claimed to not have heard any voices or sounds that would have indicated someone was engaging in sexual activity. She observed the incident. Additionally, she mentioned that she did not hear anyone shouting.
Ron Haley, the attorney for Washington, highlighted the timing of the witness coming forward in a statement after his client’s apprehension.
Haley expressed her concern not just about the timing of this statement, but also about whether it satisfies the standard of probable cause. “No action was taken by law enforcement, and Mr. Washington and his mother collaborated with the inquiry two years ago,” Haley added.
Washington, together with two other men and a 17-year-old, was charged in connection with the purported sexual assault of Brooks earlier this month.
Washington and the 17-year-old were accused of raping Brooks, while Everett Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, were charged with being accomplices to third-degree rape, indicating that they witnessed the act but did not actively participate.
According to the attorney for Haley Brooks, the woman who was allegedly raped, she left the car and was hit and killed by another vehicle after having a blood alcohol level of 0.319, which the police stated exceeded the legal driving limit by four times.
Haley informed WAFB that the individuals did not simply abandon her from the car. He further stated that they did not coerce her to exit the vehicle, as one of the videos exhibited her voluntarily disembarking. “I believe that at some point, one of the others attempted to pacify the situation and suggested that she reenter the car. However, she declined.”
Haley stated that she did not abandon her on the side of the road; these young men strive to comprehend the needs and wants of the public.
