Karen Bass Polls & Election Results
Bass, a popular candidate in the mayoral campaign, was leading in the polls for most of the time, despite Rick Caruso’s late entrance. Caruso, a billionaire businessman and a prominent figure overseeing the powerful boards of Southern California’s University and the Department of Police in Los Angeles, is well-known for his involvement in the best-known shopping destinations in Southern California. However, different polls showed that Bass was a very popular candidate.
Karen Bass will become the first Black woman and second Angeleno to be elected as the mayor of Los Angeles’ 43rd city. She will take the oath of office on December 12th, succeeding Eric Garcetti, who could not participate in the re-election due to the two-term limit. In the recent mayor’s race, Bass defeated Caruso, obtaining around 53% of the total votes. Both candidates were running to replace former mayor Eric Garcetti.
