Knox County mayor, WWE superstar Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs talks faith, politics and opportunity in the US

Unofficial returns indicate that Jacobs easily triumphed over Democrat Linda Haney, with the majority of the votes tallied in Knox County on Thursday. The WWE celebrity, recognized by his wrestling name “Kane,” emerged victorious in the mayoral race within Tennessee’s third-largest county. Following in the footsteps of Jesse Ventura, the former WWE titleholder became the second professional wrestler to hold a public office in the United States. Glenn Jacobs, aged 55, currently serves as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

During a privileged interview, Jacobs informed Fox News Digital, “I frequently jest that due to my persona, you see – the majority of politicians are attempting to persuade individuals that the politician is the individual they witness on television. My objective was to persuade individuals that I was not the individual they observed on television.”

The Siblings of Annihilation – this duo of on-screen brothers emerged as one of the most renowned and highly honored tag teams in the realm of wrestling. With a sinister aura that hadn’t been witnessed in a long time, a convoluted background story, and never-before-seen pyrotechnics, the wrestling community was stunned when Kane made his debut as a scarlet, masked, and silent demon who shared a half-brother bond with the beloved superstar, The Undertaker.

Jacobs expressed that during his youth, ‘However, I consistently followed the news and consistently possessed an intriguing fascination for such matters.’ I did not participate in student government or any similar activities. Ever since my time in high school, I have consistently maintained a casual curiosity towards politics. As I matured, my level of interest towards politics grew substantially.

A large number of drivers in Tennessee desire to have the phrase ‘In God We Trust’ displayed on their license plates.

Why have I been fortunate enough to have a fantastic life? And How is that achievable? Jacobs states that he started questioning himself with queries similar to these as he aged.

Jacobs informed Fox News Digital, “And that truly struck a chord with me,” “which is personal freedom and open markets,” “which stem from the foundation of our nation,” “It’s due to the opportunities that we receive in America.”

Inspired by figures like Ron Paul, former presidential candidate, and other libertarian politicians, the mayor has become more closely associated with the mainstream Republican Party following Donald Trump’s victory as President.

Jacobs asserts that it is not his political beliefs that have altered, but rather the Republican Party’s set of principles.

KANE, a previous WWE wrestler who currently holds the position of mayor, shares his viewpoint on impeachment, emphasizing its detrimental effects on the nation.

Jacobs informed Fox News, “I believe it genuinely commenced at that point.” “I held a strong endorsement for Ron Paul during his presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012,” he expressed. “In my opinion, what has occurred is the emergence of a significantly more influential libertarian faction within the Republican Party.”

The fundamental concept remains unchanged, however, I might not necessarily concur with all of them on every aspect – individuals such as Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Thomas Massie, and Rand Paul whom we observe presently. He further stated, “Presently, we witness individuals like Rand Paul – Thomas Massie, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz.”

Jacobs is a devoted believer who also plays a crucial role in uniting underserved areas, communities, neighborhoods, and churches. Despite his libertarian background, he stands out for his pro-life stance on abortion and his social views, which sometimes differ from the rest of the group.

Jacobs explains, “I believe it is crucial to recognize the significance of strong social institutions such as the family and the church. If we do not have these institutions, we may experience undesirable consequences as we have observed in the past.” Jacobs continues, “It is essential to truly understand the importance of social institutions like the church and the family.”

Jacobs quips, “That’s precisely why you wouldn’t desire Kane to assume the role of a dictator – you wouldn’t desire anyone to do so,” in response to the irony of his terrifying character and his dedication to religion and the principles of a small community.

Mayor ‘Kane’ wears a WWE mask and forcefully slams a man through a table at a symposium.

“These are our local communities,” he said. “That’s really what society is based on. So I think that sometimes libertarians discount that.”.

In 2021, Jacobs achieved induction into the WWE Hall of Fame following his exploration of an intriguing discipline – grappling, which he believed would be a leisurely pursuit. His aspirations of joining the NFL as a formidable athlete were hindered by a troublesome knee, preventing him from participating in the draft. Prior to his unforeseen transition to football, he attended university on a basketball grant after being raised in Missouri. Jacobs entered this world on a U.S. Air Force base situated in Madrid, Spain.

Even as a jarhead wrestler, Kane won the edition of the WWE show “The Weakest Link,” securing $82,000 for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout his screen persona, Jacobs has demonstrated intelligence that defies the stereotypes associated with his massive physique.

The mayor asserts that he endeavors to be as transparent with his constituents as he can, regarding both positive and negative matters. The widespread opioid crisis has inflicted a profound wound on the younger generation in the region, and homelessness has surged as a result of the rampant addiction. Jacobs speaks frankly about the accomplishments and missteps of Knox County.

“The [sole] thing he did that I didn’t agree with,” was to his advantage, that was. However, I don’t believe anyone really paid attention to it anyhow, and then I believe he appropriated it, but the governor issued a ‘safer-at-home’ directive for a week or two. We didn’t go nearly as extensively as other locations did, stating, “We didn’t go nearly as extensively as other locations did.” He attributes this substantial increase to the state’s disregard for federal COVID-19 mandates, along with an influx of investment and out-of-state newcomers. Conversely, Jacobs highlights the growth of tourism in his region.

Individuals in positions of authority retain their authority to enact or express whatever they desire. Driven by a strong desire for authority, certain individuals at the national level display an excessive craving for power. Their actions are not inherently malicious, although I do not always concur with them. The majority of the individuals I interact with here are decent individuals.

Jacobs intends to stay as far away as possible from the level of federal power, saying that he has no interest in running for Congress or the Senate.

He expressed, “Regrettably, I reckon the national government is quite dysfunctional.” “I have absolutely no inclination to visit Washington, D.C,” he declared. “My current focus is on running for re-election, and that’s where my true concentration lies.”

Jacobs states that in order for rural communities to experience positive growth and change, it is crucial for local politics to become more relevant and impactful in the day-to-day lives of D.C. Lawmakers and citizens alike.

When asked about the potential cultural divide between the left and right, Jacobs believes that fundamentally good individuals exist on all sides of politics, despite the dominating presence of the loudest and most assertive voices in the discourse.

Jacobs said, “There is a war on culture happening.” “I don’t actually think most people care about what other folks do.” “They’re just tired of getting it shoved in their face.” “They’re tired of being screamed at, called bigots, homophobes, racists, and preached at just because they might not agree with some things.”

“I’m really tired of the majority of people in this country who probably make up the vast majority, denigrating others just for expressing their opinions. On the other hand, I think what’s happened is that people who are woke have really overplayed their hand,” he said, continuing.

Jacobs declared his decision early last year, highlighting his achievements amidst the pandemic and economic instability. In 2022, he is currently seeking re-election.

Jacobs informed nearby media, “I promised to remain loyal to my conservative principles as mayor four years ago. No one could have foreseen a pandemic and the subsequent economic shutdown, but Knox County has managed to endure the difficult situation without raising taxes, and I am filled with pride.”

If he is elected again, the citizens can anticipate four additional years of leadership that prioritize conservative principles. We managed to maintain a balanced budget while also making progressive investments in our community by being frugal and implementing intelligent reductions.
