In the midst of a contentious labor disagreement, ordinary employees from NBC News and MSNBC went on strike on Thursday, causing the absence of notable figures such as Lester Holt, Rachel Maddow, and other well-compensated celebrities.
None of the on-screen celebrities made an appearance, whereas a display of unity for the regular employees would have made a significant impact. The employees who went on strike were primarily from the digital departments of NBC News, MSNBC, and “Today,” as the on-screen performers are not affiliated with the NBC Guild.
Jon Schleuss, president of the NewsGuild, feels that it is hypocritical for progressive companies to mistreat their workers during bargaining, especially when they are laying off unionized employees, which is a violation of the law.
Schleuss informed Fox News Digital that it is hypocritical, particularly NBC and MSNBC, for any employer to engage in such behavior. By disrespecting workers and conducting unlawful layoffs, the employer is violating the law and has a responsibility to adhere to federal regulations. Isn’t that correct? Some other networks, which are perhaps more forward-thinking and also leaders in the digital market, have also carried out similar actions as NBC.
NBC, MSNBC reporters quit their jobs due to a labor dispute, claiming that Comcast-owned networks are violating the law.
If asked, Schleuss would have liked to see his guild members marching on-air with solidarity in showcasing their talent. But in recent memory, MSNBC has praised labor unions such as Hasan Mehdi and Chris Hayes, who are hosts and outspoken progressives.
Schleuss stated, “Every individual at NBC should be fighting to ensure that the company follows federal laws, and they should know what it entails. Union members probably also know this, as they likely have contracts.”
NBC News and MSNBC did not promptly reply when inquired about whether on-air personnel were permitted to endorse the unionized employees.
Numerous NBC and MSNBC journalists are planning to go on strike due to a labor dispute with the conglomerate owned by Comcast.
If on-air personalities wish to assist, Schleuss believes they can merely report on the narrative.
He stated, “Is it a violation of federal law that the company is honest about its struggles and coverage on MSNBC and NBC? It is crucial for every journalist at every news organization to be accountable and transparent to their readers and viewers. Each organization has an obligation to do these things.”
NEW YORK TIMES EMPLOYEES VOICE THEIR OPPOSITION TO MANAGEMENT DURING STRIKE: ‘WE’RE STRUGGLING FOR AN EQUITABLE AGREEMENT’.
Last year, Nikole Hannah-Jones, arguably the most high-profile staffer at The New York Times and the architect of “The 1619 Project,” spoke at a rally for the Guild members and said it was really important for us to show solidarity and come together to support workers with lower wages.
Lander, D. Promptly dismissed any comparison between Hannah-Jones and the similar figures of Holt, Hayes, and Maddow. Nevertheless, New York City comptroller Brad.
At the renowned Rockefeller Center, Lander informed Fox News Digital about Hannah-Jones during the protest outside NBC’s New York City headquarters, “Well, she belongs to the labor organization there.”
“The issues that workers here have with NBCUniversal and the companies are those who will be laid off or fired, and those who get paid about decisions about the contract, and who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are laid off, and those who get paid about those who are
NBC News has strongly asserted that the guild is distorting the facts and desires to collaborate towards reaching a consensus.
Fox News spokesperson told NBC News that they are disappointed by NewsGuild’s continued attempts to misrepresent the facts while we are working in good faith to reach an agreement.
