Liam Payne, from One Direction, has said that during a recent interview, he candidly discussed moments of low mental health and the scars it left on him.
The group, which also consists of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, has been on an indefinite break since 2016.
He ‘was unaware of the extent of his commitment,’ and has now confessed that the vocalist, 29, tried out for The X Factor in 2010 when he was assigned to the ensemble.
Liam expressed that even though he was in his ‘most unfavorable situation,’ he has ‘abundant appreciation’ for his ‘remarkable existence’ and occupation, while addressing Colombia’s W Radio.
He explained that he began when he was 14 years old and has been performing his job, but he is unsure if he fully understood the commitments he made.
Liam added that I have been very lucky to hold a job for so long, which I definitely think has left scars on me.
‘I have a lot of stuff to unpack before starting this job. I am where I am because I made my own sense of why I ended up at this place, I wouldn’t change a thing.’
‘Preventing such occurrences from happening to someone else would be my ultimate aspiration, particularly in terms of public recognition. However, the experiences I went through in the past have made me realize that it is not just about my own situation. If I can assist anyone in any way, it has certainly provided me with a compelling message.’
It’s a wonderful life and I have a lot of appreciation, but there were certainly moments of sadness that I’ll never downplay.
It’s just about having the right people around you at the right time, and I was lucky that when I was at my worst, I had people to help me and get me the help that I needed.
Now someone’s life might be said to have changed, and I must say I am extremely grateful to be on the other side of it now.
In the previous year, following a low point, Liam spent a period at a wellness facility in the United States where medical professionals identified him with ‘a few ailments’. At the start of this year, he shared openly about his emotional well-being and disclosed.
The singer shared a candid Instagram post in which he said he was having a tough day, still struggling to see his friends and family.
Liam recounted turbulent events in his life and his struggle to maintain sobriety during times of extreme despair.
Before finally deciding to delete it, he admitted in the video clip that he had filmed numerous times before, that this was the right time to share his story with his fans.
I don’t know whether this is the right time, but I mean to delete them and film a bunch of these for time over. He said,
In my last video, I mentioned that I had been diagnosed with a couple of medical conditions. I won’t go into too much detail about them, but one of these conditions is something I have experienced a lot in my life – a lot of ups and downs, which you guys saw.
‘However, the flip side of the situation is that it gives me a similar sensation to when I would lose my state of being sober during these exceptionally down moments, and I experienced that same feeling today,’ he continued.
‘And it’s separating the two things and observing them individually, and I understand what they are now’.
“I’m not really here. I can see that they are, but I’m not sure. After looking around, I realize that I have some amazing people around me. Luckily for me.”
He captioned the clip, stating that he had recorded this identical video around 20 times at various moments throughout the year and became too frightened to release it due to talking himself out of it.
I was absent while experts acquired knowledge from the certain exchange that I was given a gift, I want to give you something and I am privileged to see how fortunate I am in the situation… In the situation.
He concluded, “This hope helps me. Allow it to pass and let it happen, notice it… I was made sick and lashed out because things blocked me for so long, and one of the amazing gifts we had is this feeling. Don’t bottle up how you feel, it’s important and first thing I did was check in with it every day.”
