“The report stated that this type of surgery is known for a long-term complication. The obstruction was caused by adhesions developed after bariatric surgery, resulting in a strangulated small bowel.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, bariatric surgery is a collective name for a group of surgeries, such as gastric bypass, that involve making changes to someone’s digestive system to help with weight loss.
The toxicology report revealed evidence of “therapeutic levels” of buprenorphine, quetiapine, and oxycodone opioids, but no evidence of foul play and no contributing factors to her death were found.
The unfortunate information was declared by her mother Priscilla Presley’s spokesperson hours after she was admitted to the hospital. Following a heart-related incident near Calabasas, Presley passed away on January 12th at West Hills Hospital.
“The statement expressed that amidst this exceedingly challenging period, they request solitude and are deeply appreciative of the assistance, affection, and supplications from all individuals,” it stated. “The Presley family and Priscilla Presley are astounded and heartbroken by the sorrowful passing of their cherished Lisa Marie.”

Weeks after Keough submitted a request to assume full responsibility as the only trustee of her mother’s estate, the cause of Presley’s death was disclosed.
Benjamin Keough, who was 27 years old, passed away in 2020. He served as one of the co-trustees along with Riley Keough, who is 33 years old. Benjamin took over the role of Lisa Marie’s previous business manager, Barry Siegel. Following Lisa Marie’s death in January, Priscilla raised objections to her daughter’s will and contested a 2016 modification.
Priscilla and Keough came to an agreement in May.
The public memorial, attended by peers of music icons such as Axl Rose and Alanis Morissette, as well as Billy Corgan, concluded with a performance by Guns N’ Roses.
Keough, the oldest daughter of Presley, shared an emotional tribute with the assistance of her spouse, Ben Smith-Petersen.
