Matchbox Vintage Pizza Bistro

Matchbox Vintage Pizza Bistro’s genuine recipe for success enables it to expand.

The new territories in Washington D.C. Have been propelled by the culinary creations of Bistro’s Pizza Vintage Matchbox, which is both contemporary and cool, but also casual.

In various places such as Florida, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C., There are 11 Bistro Pizza Vintage Matchbox restaurants owned by Group Food Matchbox. “We noticed a couple of those locations,” says Stephen Lyons, the vice president of culinary innovation, “and now we’re actively searching for other suitable locations.”

It is preparing to strategically grow in the future, but the chain restaurant has been organically growing for many years. He says that Matchbox has developed a reputation where it will likely be scattered throughout the next few locations in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.

“We’re going to be smart, systematic and move at a pace at which we can make sure our culture stays in place,” Lyons says. “We don’t want growth just for the sake of growth.”

He says that Matchbox restaurants tend to do well in suburban neighborhoods where they meet the urban vibe. Lyons also adds that our restaurants function best where we know our demographic and our square footage ranges from 6,500 to 5,500, with single-level structures being what we want our restaurants to be. “Every time you learn important things, you grow,” he says.

The Urban Vintage Matchbox Bistro offers a rotating selection of beer choices for both novices and connoisseurs. It is known for its juicy grilled mini Angus burgers and famous thin-crust wood-fired brick oven pizzas.

The standard is a brunch menu filled with cocktails, including homemade Bloody Marys and Mimosas, along with pan-baked cinnamon rolls and cast iron egg skillets. Additionally, the restaurant provides a diverse wine selection that showcases both traditional and contemporary styles of wine from North America and Europe, all at a great value.

Guests have the option to request a unique homemade cocktail or relax on the outdoor terrace while being at the bar. The establishments create an urban ambiance by incorporating a blend of industrial and rustic elements in their design.

Lyons asserts, “Our establishment represents a fresh and refined iteration of a TGI Fridays or Chili’s.” “Although you can still enjoy televised games, the quality of food and service aligns better with the standards of modern customers.” “We establish the benchmark for individuals who value consistently excellent cuisine and a relaxed ambiance.”

There’s no question about it, Pizza is definitely the star of the show. Matchbox Pizza has become the signature Matchbox of pizzas, producing a crispy crust and unique flavor that many elements of their pizzas give. One of these elements is the high temperature of the oven, which is shorter baking time for the dough and uses a brick wood-fired oak oven.

Lyons states that their sauces incorporate locally sourced sausage and premium ingredients while emphasizing that they produce their own pizza dough, as their motto highlights the unparalleled quality of their pizza.

The house specialty at Matchbox is a spicy “fire + smoke” pizza, made with mozzarella, fresh basil, roasted garlic puree, tomato sauce, chipotle pepper, Spanish onions, and fire-roasted red peppers. Guests have the option to customize their own pizza by choosing from a variety of ingredients, or they can enjoy one of Matchbox’s 14 different types of signature pizzas. One popular choice is the pepperoni and banana peppers pizza, which features crushed tomatoes, hand-pulled mozzarella, and a zesty tomato sauce. Another guest favorite is the signature meat pizza, topped with crispy bacon, spicy roasted Italian sausage, and Matchbox’s signature pepperoni.

We do everything with finesse. We have a variety of salads that feature simple salad greens, and we can make anything from them. According to Lyons, we do everything with finesse. Matchbox’s flavor-driven bistro and mini burgers are the main attraction, while their pizza sets them apart from the competition. The star attraction of Matchbox’s is their pizza, while their bistro fare and mini burgers provide additional support.

The featured salads include a salad with arugula and spinach, seared tuna, almond-crusted tuna, candied pecans, and a dressing made with vinaigrette, mustard, honey, croutons, chopped hardboiled egg, potato, pear, and apple.

Matchbox restaurants often change certain items on the menu to bring exciting and new flavors. All menu items are created by Matchbox chefs in collaboration with Lyons, using fresh ingredients and innovative recipes. Matchbox’s wedge salad features romaine lettuce kissed with a creamy Danish blue cheese, and is served with a white balsamic vinaigrette that helps to cut through the richness.

Each restaurant has a general manager, an executive sous chef, and supporting managers and supervisors for the dining rooms, kitchen, and staff. We want to pay attention to what our guests want. In Florida, there is a huge interest in burgers and appetizers, and Texans really want salad, for example. Depending on the location, we will look at tweaking our menu. We consider ourselves a food-focused hospitality group.

Each card tap on the restaurant’s 12 features will generally handle a variety of wild seasonal beers from companies such as Dogfish Head, Minute Man IPA, and Allagash Brewing Company in Vermont. Guests will also find staples like Stella Artois and Devil’s Backbone Vienna Lager on draft. Matchbox is especially known for its craft beer selection, but it wouldn’t be a party without spirits and beer too. Cheers!

Cucumber and lime, tequila infused with cucumber, margarita with jalapeno-infused tequila, and a gin and tonic with cucumber are some of the distinctive options on the cocktail list. Artisanal beverages comprise a variety of draft wines and specialty cocktails, along with craft beers. Matchbox is renowned for offering these unique choices.

“Numerous locations we visit nowadays are exceedingly foreseeable,” Lyons asserts. “To stand out today, one must surpass the standards set by yesterday.”

Matchbox Back Giving has designed a community fundraising program for nonprofit organizations and schools, located near the restaurant, that will help raise money by donating 10 percent of its sales gross to the cause it qualifies for.

“You cannot possess that automated mindset,” Lyons states. “The individual operators are motivated to contribute to their community.”

Lyons states, “The dining establishment organization raises as much as $75,000 per year for No Kid Hungry.” Matchbox additionally contributes funds to various charitable purposes, such as cystic fibrosis and the No Kid Hungry initiative in Florida.

Matchbox, founded in 2003, is the brainchild of four friends who had a vision for great food with seamless service and a passion for designing the first building in Washington D.C.’S Chinatown neighborhood, where they grew up.
