Moselle, the expansive hunting ground spanning over 1,700 acres, formerly belonging to Richard “Alex” Murdaugh, the disgraced and disbarred attorney from South Carolina, has now been sold for a whopping $3.9 million.
Prior to assisting his numerous purported financial and civil victims, a judge from South Carolina has given the green light to a settlement agreement for the estate which compensates Murdaugh’s remaining son.
In the wake of Alex Murdaugh’s rapidly spiraling legal downfall, whole dozens of civil suits have been filed against him, alleging that he has frozen and seized many of his assets. He is also accused of stealing more than $8.7 million from his law partners and clients. Additionally, he has been convicted of murdering his wife and son on March 2.
On Wednesday, March 22, attorney Mark Tinsley, who represents multiple clients in claims against Murdaugh, stated that the purchaser has not been publicly identified. As part of this ongoing legal procedure, Moselle was sold for $3.9 million and the Murdaugh family beach house at Edisto was recently sold.
Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were ruthlessly gunned down and murdered on the evening of June 7, 2021, at Moselle, an extensive expanse situated in Hampton and Colleton counties.
The funds from the sale of Moselle would be utilized according to the terms specified in the settlement agreement submitted in Hampton County by lawyers representing the Estate of Maggie Murdaugh, who was the legal owner of Moselle during the occurrences, on January 10th.

After a Jan. 19 hearing in Lexington County, Judge Daniel D. Hall approved the settlement agreement by court order on Jan. 24.
The settlement was approved despite the opposition of multiple parties, such as Murdaugh’s previous legal associate, John E. Parker, who has a legal demand against Murdaugh; Palmetto State Bank in Hampton, which has a legal demand against the Moselle property; and lawyers representing Gregory M. Parker, Inc. Also known as Parker’s Corporation, who are listed as co-defendants in the Beach wrongful death lawsuit.
The settlement agreement approved by the court will be disbursed as a component of the Moselle estate and any remaining funds from that transaction, however Tinsley informed The Hampton County Guardian on Friday that he has not yet been provided with the exact sum of income generated from this sale. The public auction, which commenced on Thursday afternoon (March 23) at Liberty Auction in Pembroke, Georgia, featured a range of items including furniture, home decor, and vehicles from the Moselle estate. Additionally, assets were liquidated in connection with this matter.
Many others have trespassed on the property, while numerous media posts on social platforms have captured drone footage or photos of the former home of the Murdaugh family, which has become a sort of mecca for true crime fans obsessed and infatuated with the true crime saga.
The victims were killed near the family dog kennels, not far from the primary residence, which are both located in Colleton County.
