Nick Wright celebrates new FS1 timeslot for First Things First, and an improved sleep schedule

First Things First, the studio is finally able to have its full cast together for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. They returned to the FS1 lineup on Tuesday, with a new look and a new timeslot, and made a triumphant comeback after three weeks off.

It is important not to overlook the significance of having a improved sleep routine. Moreover, the experienced sports anchor is “excited” about the new starting time of 3pm EST for various reasons. Wright willingly shifted his FS1 show to the afternoon, not only for that reason.

The FS1 host stated on his podcast What’s Wright?, “I have experienced early morning wake-up calls before 5 am consecutively for 10 years.” “That routine has now ceased. For one day, I have been unable to accompany my children to school…Now, I am able to take them to school every day and due to my schedule, I have the privilege of fetching them from school.”

Now that I can (finally) discuss the changes coming to @ftfonfs1 and our new lineup, here’s why moving to the afternoons (on the show’s 5-year anniversary!) means so much to me. pic.twitter.com/6sEMDcsIos

A professional privilege is the commencement at 3pm, he also mentioned. Considering his personal perspective after years of being a morning presenter since his days in Houston radio, it might be more suitable for Wright to transition to the afternoon slot.

Wright stated, “This is truly unlike any other experience I have had in my career.” The privilege and honor of continuing the day on FS1 comes from being able to take over from Colin. “He hands it off to us every single day,” explained Wright. He is now not only one of my closest friends in the world, but also someone who passes the baton to us daily,” said Wright. He was originally my professional idol, then became my mentor, and now, one of my dearest friends in the world. “He gets to hand it off to us every single day,” added Wright. This person is none other than Colin Cowherd.

During the morning show on FS1, Cowherd did not offer any words to ensure that there is no animosity. He might not consider Carton as an idol, while the national TV show did not even give him the opportunity to rebuild the powerhouse ratings of his afternoon show on WFAN. Although the reality is that Carton has helped in opening a morning show, it sounds like Wright is excited about the move to FS1.

On his podcast, Wright expressed, “Craig Carton is an exceptionally skilled broadcaster who ranks among the most talented in the country when it comes to sports coverage. I also have a personal bias towards him, as he shares the same alma mater, Syracuse University, as I do. Craig and I have a longstanding relationship, as he previously invited me as a guest on his radio show. I am absolutely thrilled that he has been chosen to lead the morning slot on FS1.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Wright restarted First Things First with Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes remaining as his co-hosts. The Carton Show, promoted by FS1 as having a varying group of co-hosts, but in its initial week, Carton is accompanied by Geoff Schwartz and Cody Decker.
