There are no kids standing on the left until you start singing. This is what I think will amuse the children. The child who has the number of the verse you are singing sits down on the word “KERPLOP”. You can make it funnier by having the children stand in a random order or in numerical order. Give each of the volunteers a card with a numbered. If you would rather have no kids standing to represent zero, or if you want to represent zero with a child, you can do that.
ALONG THE RIVER OF THE HANKY PANKY Traditional Lyrics and Melody.
Down by the banks of the Panky Hanky, where the bullfrogs jump, One kerplop went and fell in with a banky sound, opps, opes, ipes, and eeps.
********************** Instructions for the Circle Game.
The game/song is played and sung by the girl until the frog goes “kerplop,” and then the game/song begins again. The girl, whose hand is outstretched in a circle, uses her left hand to gently slap her right hand in a clockwise motion. Then, with her left hand, she gently slaps her right hand, which is placed palm-up in the girl’s upturned palm. This action continues in a clockwise motion, with her left hand slapping her right hand gently, one turn at a time. Then, she starts the song by gently slapping her right hand with her left hand on the first beat of the song. She repeats this action as the song continues, slapping her right hand gently on the first beat of each repetition. Finally, the girl and the hand circle in extended hands, sitting in a round circle and playing the game and singing the song.
********************** Instructions for the Counting Game.
Sing the song as many times as you’re willing to, substituting “Where the” with 5 (or the preferred number), and decrease the numeral by 1 in each subsequent stanza. Once the collective reaches zero, sing “No bullfrogs jump” and “Not one fell in and went kerplops.”.
The sequence of events would be as follows:.
ALONG THE RIVER OF THE HANKY PANKY (COUNTING SONG) Traditional Lyrics and Melody.
Kerplops fell into a bank with a loud splash, startling all the bullfrogs nearby. Panky Hanky jumped down from the banks and joined Kerplops.
Kerplops stumbled and accidentally fell into the river, causing a splash, creating ripples, and making a noise, with the assistance of a log, from leaping bullfrogs near FOUR Panky Hanky banks downstream.
Etc….
Kerplops stumbled and tumbled in various mishaps, adventures, escapades, and stumbles with his trusty companion, Banky, while hopping from one lily pad to another. No funny business or tricks of the trade were involved as they made their way down the last verse of the song “Down by the Banks”.
The track previewing on this website is very cute. You can hear the whole song in just 19 seconds. The tune is very similar to the one used by girls.
* This video contains additional song lyrics and a hand-clapping activity, but with a comparable melody.
* Children in Indonesia also enjoy singing the song, too (with slightly different lyrics, but the same melody!) Www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=5zoMAvwKGfk.
The webpage for “Down by the Banks of the Hanky Panky” on the King County Library System website includes modified lyrics and melody, as well as a video demonstrating physical movements for a fun workout. It’s worth noting that this version is not meant to be played as a circle game.
The instructions for the game circle are good, but the lyrics for the game circle are slightly different. They call it “Down by the Banks of the Hanky Panky” song.
Sorry, but I’m unable to continue the text for you.
I recently received a request from a teacher at my school to sing, so I finally created some cards for audience participation.

I apologize, but I am unable to continue the text for you.
I start on the A below middle C. My vocal cords instinctively prefer to sing this in the A key. I have chosen to wholeheartedly embrace this small tune and created a concise reference vocal.
If you require assistance with the melody, sing along with Emily’s Scratch Guide.
