In 2006, Stephanie aged into a young woman playing Rose Shayna. The role was recast with Shelley Hennig portraying Stephanie until 2011, but she returned to Salem in 2017. The character was played by Abigail Klein, but when the character returned in 2022, Stephanie took on the role again. First on DAYS and then on SALEM BEYOND.
Stephanie, the daughter of Kayla and Steve Johnson, was kidnapped by her nanny Sheila but later rescued in Australia following the death of her father Steve. Stephanie moved to Los Angeles and returned to Salem in 2006 with her mother, now an adult and a famous race car driver.
After Stephanie left town to avoid the police and to try to avoid her feelings for Jeremy, Max tried to date Decker Ford to avoid his feelings for her but ended up drugging and raping her. However, it turned out that his counterfeit clothing smuggling operation had caused him to lose all his money, so Brady and Chelsea convinced Max to invest in their business. Stephanie began dating Jeremy again and when Steve came home, it was revealed that she was alive.
Stephanie was not charged, although the truth came out later. Instead of calling the police, everyone convinced Stephanie to hide the body, terrified. His death ended up falling down the stairs, and Ford, in his out-of-it state, tried to rape Chelsea. She enlisted her sorority sisters to teach him a lesson and drug him, and when Ford continued to rape other women on campus, Stephanie struggled to deal with her own rape.
In Salem, during a difficult time, Stephanie and Melanie grew extremely close, even helping Max locate his sister in France. However, Stephanie turned Melanie into the cops when she confessed to a crime she had committed, causing Max to split up with her and become furious. Stephanie began working at Titan with Philip Kiriakis and sparks flew between them. Although Philip tried to steal Melanie for himself, Stephanie had eyes only for him and soon found herself abducted by the DiMera feud. Despite this, she accepted Philip’s marriage proposal.
Anyway, Nathan was angry with Stephanie when he found out the secret that she lied about. However, Stephanie tried to cover up the secret to prevent Nathan from divorcing Melanie. Stephanie learned that Philip was the father of Chloe, Lane’s baby, and she decided to go back to Nathan and prevent him from divorcing Melanie. Stephanie was relieved when Philip married Melanie, as she still had feelings for him. However, Nathan began seeing Stephanie when she dumped him. He refused to cut ties with his family, which strained Stephanie’s relationship with Philip. Stephanie continued to have PTSD from her abduction but was rescued.
Stephanie came back to Salem earlier than she had initially anticipated, and unfortunately, she sustained severe injuries when an explosion occurred. Steve and Kayla traveled to Seattle to see Tripp, Stephanie, and Joey, but their joyous reunion was tainted. In 2022, Stephanie didn’t stay for an extended period, but she came back to Salem to witness her parents, Steve and Kayla, getting married again in 2017. Stephanie was absent for some time, but it was later mentioned that she had departed from the town.
Stephanie helped recover the material that Sloan used to blackmail Paulina, which brought her closer to Alex. Later, they had sex and shared a kiss, which made things awkward. Stephanie agreed to hire Chad DiMera to help out, but they insisted on keeping their relationship strictly professional. She came on strong and immediately became smitten with Alex, who was wary of working with her but convinced Stephanie to do PR for Titan.
