Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and competitor Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) maintained the deadlock between the frontrunner in the 15th stage of the Tour de France to Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc.

The heated battle between Vingegaard and Pogačar escalated as they approached the final climb, with the two leaders matching each other’s moves. In the end, Pogačar attacked when they were 900 meters away from the finish line, but Vingegaard managed to keep up and even matched him when they reached the yellow jersey-wearing Dane.

Vingegaard, who finished 6:04 behind stage winner Wout Poels (Bahrain Victorious), still holds a 10-second gap behind Pogačar, without gaining any bonus seconds.

Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) maintained his position, trailing by 5:21, on Vingegaard. However, Adam Yates, Pogačar’s teammate, took charge during the last 2km of the monumental ascent to secure a third-place position for his leader from UAE Team Emirates.

Yates has emerged as the primary concern for the Ineos rider as he managed to gain time on the Spaniard during the final stretch. Rodríguez trails behind by a margin of 19 seconds, while Jai Hindley (Bora-Hansgrohe), who has slipped down to fifth place, finds himself 1 minute and 36 seconds behind and 1 minute and 17 seconds away from securing a podium position.

Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) maintained his position in sixth

At a distance of approximately 7km remaining, Hindley was left behind along with a cluster of cyclists who fell behind the leading group, which consisted of Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Felix Gall (AG2R Citroën), Simon Yates (Team Jayco AlUla), and Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers).

At 10:48, Jayco-AlUla’s leader, Simon Yates, fell back 56 seconds. However, Vingegaard and Pogačar managed to overtake him by one spot, and Bilbao lost 1:20. Now, Yates is in seventh place, falling back to 10:11.

Gaudu finishes in ninth place, trailing by a margin of 14 minutes and 7 seconds after losing only 1 minute and 9 seconds to Pogačar and Vingegaard. Martin, who is another 11 seconds behind, completes the top 10 in the General Classification (GC). French cyclists David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) and Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) are among the top contenders.

Gall, who finished in last place in the GC on Sunday, falling from ninth to 11th, with a time difference of 14:39, was the most significant climber in yesterday’s race. Pidcock, with a time difference of 16:53, also moved down one position to 12th.

On Saturday, Vingegaard seized control of the mountains classification, but on Sunday, he relinquished his brief hold as Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) accumulated 16 points and rose three positions to take the lead in the King of the Mountains competition. Second place was occupied by Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost).

The Tour de France features a solitary time trial on Monday, covering a distance of 22.4km, situated west of Chamonix in the Passy region.

The Tour de France classifications

Click here to find out how much the riders can win during the Tour de France. Speaking of prizes, there are various competitions, including the fighting spirit prize and the intermediate sprints prize. For a more comprehensive explanation, click here to learn about these minor competitions. Here’s a rundown of all the ongoing competitions.

The general classification leader, who has completed the lowest accumulated time in the stages so far, is wearing the yellow jersey – Jaune Maillot/Jersey Yellow.

The man with the most points leads the ranking, and riders accrue points at the finishes of each stage as well as during two intermediate sprints, where one of them is associated with the classification points for the Green jersey.

Once again, the man with the most points is ranked first. The points are given to the riders who are the first to conquer the hardest mountains and certain hills during the Tour de France in France. The polka dot jersey represents the mountain classification, while the white and red jerseys represent the points classification.

The white jersey is the best classification for young riders – The yellow jersey functions in the same way. Only riders under the age of 25 are eligible to win it, but the yellow jersey works in the same manner.
